If you haven't met him in person becarefuI as it is common for scammers to steal the identity of a army guy and pretend to be him on date sites

Some of the Army guys I knew would like to mess around on their spouse when they are deployed to another location away from their family. They would joke with the other guys that they were geographical bachelors.

^ So ... all military people are dishonest, except when they're being impersonated by non-military people.

 Not.

Actually they used words like, 'common' and 'some', so no mention of 'all'.
.
And having been in the military, been in a military family, and worked within the DOD on military bases... I will agree that there are people who imitate current military status and veteran status.
.
There are marriage infidelities in military families... the service member as well as the spouse.
Sure, this happens in non-military families as well.
.
Back to the OP...
What's the significance of this person being in the Army?
Just curious.

Thank you I grew up in a military family and work on a Army base for 10 years. I have nothing but respect for the military and Vets. I was just simply just trying to tell the OP what have seen some of the soldiers do when they were away from their family.
Some people are triggered way too easy now days

I am a Navy veteran.  I feel insulted every time someone even implies that we are no better than criminals.

That is why I said "some" and not "All" as it is not fair to judge a group of people based on the bad apples but it doesn't hurt for the OP to know the tactics the bad apples use so she can be on the look out.

I can't believe the military shaming that's going on in this thread. There are also military people who are very nice and honest.

I think the problem is with guys pretending to be military. Because military people have good reputations, scammers lie and say that they are in the military. It can be a good cover for not being available to chat or meet in person. They can say that they are going out of the country, are on covert ops. They can’t tell you about their work because it is so secret when in fact they know nothing about being in the military....

There are scammers out there. No doubt about that.

It’s obvious that people actually in the military, if they aren’t as*hole jerks, should be given respect.

That's quite the generalization you've made. I've noticed you make sweeping generalizations quite a lot on this subforum, and I'm not the only one who's called you out for that.

Exactly.

I also think that Boo is a realist who is acutely aware of the dangers of the internet, and the naivety and lack of scam savvy of some of the
women who use dating sites.
I would recommend all autistic women to have a streetwise family member or friend vet all of their online new acquaintances. I saw a Tony Attwood talk on the subject and IMO it's excellent advice.
They are predators with false profiles, often military for the reasons that Anne specified.

It’s sad that people pretending to be in the army. I have respect for real army people, they put their lives on the line. How can evil people do this to the real people in the army?
