I think this is relatively common for those on the spectrum.
Some have had their social development severely ret*d, through no fault of their own.
I know it is true in my case.
Part of the problem we auties have to endure is being a minority in the NT dominated social structure.
We have to adapt to a toxic social mindset that is dominated by lies, deception and a predatory hierarchical social system that often "Takes No Prisoners".
While I have resolved this phenomenon, of having a young mind in a mature body myself, I still feel cheated by life's circumstances.
well put
you know what i read NTs talk about people who 'have immature minds'
or
'childish minds'
like it's their own choice AND also like it's a CHARACTER FLAW - character is totally different.
it makes me furious to be honest but NTs are so presumptuous
you know who was lovely about this?
(and who i believe recognized the spectrum and stood up for autistics in his writings, more than any writer?--though he didn't label it he identified accurately the intent, difficulties, gifts, and range of autistics throughout his books)
CHARLES DICKENS
i'm sure he opened up a lot of people's minds and hearts to the noble aspects and blessing of autistics (including very severe cases) in society. for example Mr. Dick in David Copperfield. (that's one example, he has many more types that i can say are ASD in presentation.. including negative characters, of course, but still)
