When I had my Zoom interview yesterday, I put myself together well. I made sure my hair looked good, put on lipstick, etc... I took a picture of me dressed like that and put it as my Facebook profile picture...

Now I have men trying to friend me!! ! Ummm... Maybe I'm sending the wrong message? Or maybe I should always dress like that... Hmm....

But friendships based on looks, do they tend to be shallow?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I recommend seeking to look good, though—for your own sake, nobody else’s.

I think that depends on the individual Agnix , you can't really know intent straight away

I never add friends on Facebook that I don't know in real life. I keep my personal information private from online-only friends. A place like this is a safer way to make online friends because you are anonymous. I know some people have safely turned online friendships into real life friendships, but it sounds dangerous to just start by accepting a Facebook friend request from a random guy who knows nothing about you except that you're attractive.

My Facebook profile picture is a silhouette of myself at dusk. I don't get too much unwanted attention with that. If I actually had a recent pretty photo, I might use it, though.

There is something about your photo that gives me the vibe that you might be easy to take advantage of. I am not saying that you are, and I can't explain why I get that impression. I am only telling you because I want you to be careful about accepting these friend requests you are getting in case it's creeps out to hurt you. And I hope you get the job!!

Now, as for always dressing like that, why not? :D

It's a nice picture.

I think dressing up improves a person's mindset ---which is why in the army --at least decades ago IDK about now-- grooming was part of the training and requirements. Including groomed hairstyles and lipstick for women.

It helps the mindset throughout the day
Like a uniform. You feel more prepared and get a better response.

Grubby dull house vs sprucing it up .. Living in the latter can help one's whole mood.

Similarly when guests come, people generally make the effort to tidy up and adorn the home more than usual. Because guest would feel better in those surroundings.

Agreed ...don't accept people freely

If it's based on looks, isn't that shallow by default?

I never use a photo of myself in my Facebook avatar, but not because I'm afraid men will want to friend me only because of my appearance. I'm afraid people in general will want to be my enemies because of my appearance. I prefer using an avatar of one of my hand drawn cartoon characters. I want people on Facebook to look at my art, not me.

But seriously, I don't friend anyone on Facebook anymore. I stopped doing it years ago. I don't know any of these people anyway, and they could be Karens or anti vaxxers or something. Facebook is a real breeding ground for such idiots.
