A lot of people seem to think I am a pedophile.

Do you think it’s easy for us guys with Aspergers to get labelled this?

Only if you are the type of person who prefers the company of under-aged people to the company of adults.

Fnord I think there is a type of pedophile ‘look’ as well.

I have got comments such as having if I have had my haircut a certain way I would look like a pedophile. When I put on a pair of glasses once as well someone said I resembled a pedophile.

How many people?  What training do they have that allows them to profile a person as a pedophile based on that person's appearance alone?  I think those people's opinions are full of manure, and that you would be better off to ignore those people.  And stay away from their kids.

My brother said if I had my haircut a certain way I would look like a pedo. Also a few people in my social circle have also labelled me a pedophile before. I get called names like gay as well.

I think a lot of people believe that gay men are more likely to to be pedophiles. I am straight by the way.

Then those people are not worth the effort to maintain relationships with.  I am carbon-based, by the way.

There is sort of a stereotype about gay guys. Gay guys are probably sometimes thought to be pedos because of major news stories about guys molesting kids like the boy-scouts, Catholic priests, & Michael Jackson. I've been seeing commercials on TV lately for a class-action lawsuit for people who were molested by the boy-scouts. Also characters like Herbert The Pervert on Family Guy also perpetuate that stereotype. There is also sort of a gender stereotype about the way a guy is supposed to act & guys who don't conform to that stereotype are sometimes thought to be gay. It is not uncommon for some of us autistic guys to be thought gay when we're not. If an adult guy does not have a wife or girlfriend, does not talk about hot women or brag about having sex with women, isn't majorly into sports, is kinda sensitive, & a male feminist or just openly supports women's rights, he is more likely to get the gay label. Some women I made a move on when I was single thought I was gay which was the end of our sorta friendship & I felt thoroughly humiliated. Me being assumed gay for not conforming to the male gender stereotype majorly contributed to me having major confusion about my sexuality & gender. Us autistics tend to be immature in some ways compared to our peers like us having immature interests & that can sometimes cause people to be assumed pedos.

Hang out with people in your age group.

Unless you're in your late 90's, which I would say hang out with someone younger.

I thought of something else. Sometimes others think us autistics are staring at things or looking at things that we are not. Like we may be zoning out & daydreaming & are not noticing things rite in front of us. A member of the same sex or a kid may be in the direction we are facing & others assume we are staring at em when we did not even notice em. I've been accused of staring at others when I was not even looking at them.

I'm not trying to be vulgar here but don't know how else to say it. Us guys get erections & depending on our clothing others might notice & then they may potenially assume that we are turned on by someone around us when in reality it may be an involentary thing & we didn't even notice others around us. I heard of some guys gettting in troble cuz of that. I should NOT say anymore about this here cuz it belongs in the Adult section.

There is no “pedophile look.”

This. It is completely wrong to tell someone that they "look like a paedophile" when there's no evidence that that person is a paedophile. I would never say that to a friend, as it's kind of an insult and might hurt their feelings. What's wrong with people?

I feel bad to say this but sometimes people want you to leave so badly that they say really mean things like this. It took me a long time to figure this out but once I did, I realized I wasn't wanted in their company. (Now, this is NOT everybody-just these types). They want you to leave. This happens to a lot of people. I used to get, "Don't you have any other friends?" "What are you gay or something?" "Why don't you take a second job?" "Why don't you just have a baby, you don't need a husband."
"Don't you have something else to do?" "Don't you have to go to work?" "Why don't you try catchin' a man?" Or they "do" things to you like pinch you, or kick you in the shin under the table or spill something on you. Sometimes, they would just insult me. Once I left after this kind of treatment but stuck around to hear if they talked about me. They sure did and it hurt like hell. This is what they said,"So glad that f'n moron finally got the hint, stupid b*tch!" When you get the slightest hint that you are unwanted, get out quick. Don't stick around to listen in.

People in life will label you all sorts of things. I've been told I "look like a rapist", that I'm gay, ret*d, anti-social, etc. All of these things are based on what I look like or that I didn't do or have, or like something that other people are "suppose" to. I just ignore them cause usually it's people passing judgement before ever actually getting to know you and I have no time for that.

Maybe slightly off topic but in the recent elections here in the US some of the LGBT canadets were accused of being pedos by their oponets. Also here in the US homosexuality sometimes gets connected with beastieality as well. When gay marriage became legal here some conservative extemists actually argued that pedophilia & beastiality would rise & become legal as a result Sometimes labels like gay & pedo get applied to people by haters who want to tear others down in order to build themselves up. Us Aspies & others who don't conform are seen as very easy targets sometimes.
