I'm seem to think from advertisements you see on TV, posters of models in clothes shop windows or by reality shows like Love Island that for men, you MUST aspire to the muscular ideal in order to look attractive and be successful in life and have clean-cut shorter hair not long hair when I have seen male models with long hair. I don't go to the gym and instead have been using a friend's weights and press-ups nearly every day and not anywhere near as muscular as those guys, I still look medium-built with a bit of the rib-cage still showing but I have noticed the muscles in my arms seem to have hardened more lately but I have also been doing this to keep fit and healthy during lockdown. You wouldn't see many people like me on those reality shows even there was one guy on there with Aspergers who walked out for reasons I can't remember now
