And don't think it's different in Okcupid, bumble or match.com.

Did the article indicate the breakdown between women who were real and women who were fake (i.e., men or bots posing as women)?

I highly doubt they did, that would make the ratio 20 *real* men to 1 *real* woman.

You should also exclude the instagram models who make money by collecting horny followers.

That alone might make the M:F ratio closer to 200:1...

Valid point. In the old days dating agencies used to sign up men on up front contracts and then hire girls to date the men (using the term "guaranteed introductions"), The girls got paid by the agencies plus got a free dinner.

Nowadays the online version is bot-girls who are paid to interact online.

Yet surprisingly I watched a documentary on tinder dating and (I am not sure if the TV show is being paid by tinder) but the men looked pretty ordinary married to stunning models??

Not sure whom to believe

What’s the point of me going on a dating app ever again after finding this out?

Oh and don’t forget the MtoF transgender too; most straight men wouldn’t want to date one.

If the service is free, users are the product. Unfortunately they also might be if they pay.

Does Tinder operate like nightclubs? charge men and give free accounts to women?

If the men are interested in having children the natural way, that wouldn't work out, assuming a life partner relationship.

Well, speak for yourself. I'm straight and I've found plenty of trans women attractive. They definitely shouldn't be excluded from a list of "real" women on dating apps.

As for dating apps, yeah, they're awful. I spent a long time swiping on lots of different people but the only ones who liked me back were pretty obvious scammers. I got one genuine match but she cancelled our meetup and then ghosted me. Haven't been back since, you start to feel pretty devalued when you know so many women are looking at you and saying "no." But the women on there are spoiled for choice, because there are so many more men, and they know the guys on there are saying yes to pretty much everyone. At the same time, they're way more likely to get unsolicited nudes and sexist remarks. So I just quit and try to be more social irl. Hasn't worked but I definitely feel better than I did on the app.

Screw that. I ain't fighting over a date like a chunk of meat.

Ultimately I don't remember exactly what led me to avoid online dating in entirety, but my wisdom rarely fails me.
