I know this guy who is 52 that had a relationship with a woman who died last July aged 81 of cancer. Now she’s dead he is in a romantic relationship with the old ladies daughter who is 60.

I know everyone is entitled to date who they want to but do you think that is kind of weird/wrong of him to do that?

He also had a relationship with the women’s daughter prior to dating her mother years ago.

Read Thomas Hardy’s The Well-Beloved.

When I read the tittle I was thinking this might be a situation I'd see on the ID(Investigation Discovery) Channel where the stepdad decides to murder his wife for the money & so he can date his stepdaughter. That plot seems fairly common on those real-life murder shows. People disgust me sometimes.

Not weird. I don't think there should be any rules with dating between two consenting adults (unless one is cheating in another relationship).

Having an affair before the mother died is a little disrespectful though.

In the Hardy novel he falls in love with three generations. Grandmother, Mother, Daughter.

It's actually one of my favourite novels, as weird as the topic may sound.

Yeah, I find it weird but not enough to explain.

I agree. That's not why I loved the novel. It was just well-written and the male character was very autistic.

I can't say why it's wrong, and intellectually it's not wrong, but meh -- not my thing at all.

Is it weird for a 52 year old to date an 81 year old?

If you aren't one of the two people in the relationship, then why do you care?

You mean three people. Mom's ghost is still watching, judging.

I think it's weird. That would make the woman he goes on to date his step daughter pretty much. It seems unfathomable to me that he'd even see her that way.

Sure, there's no blood relation, but dating the woman who your previous date gave birth to? Assuming she was the birth mother. Yeah. That's odd to me.

Hypothetically, I would be worried about grooming if he became her stepdad before she was an adult like if he was her stepdad while she was in high-school. I agree with you for the most part thou.

It reminds me of that song:

I am my own grandpa.
