I thought this might be a mildly interesting topic.

Are you comfortable engaging in PDA with a partner? (I’ve found that engaging in PDA without a partner is almost always a bad idea.) If you are comfortable, to what extent? Do other people’s public displays of affection make you uncomfortable?

Personal anecdotes are welcome.

Well besides making out with Robbie in his storage shed (which wouldn't really count as PDA because it was in private) I am okay with Public Displays of Affection as long as it doesn't go too far!

When David and I are in public we would kiss, hug and hold hands

I love PDA.

The only downside is that many people where I am are very modest, because it's Texas.

Between couples:
If it's more than hugging or it's remotely sexual, then NO. Get a freaking room.

For myself with my partner:
Also NO.
I have Scopophobia ffs.
I don't even want to be seen walking by myself in the grocery store, let alone doing PDA.

One kind of PDA that I love ... actually ... is the kind that isn't sexual.
You see it in the airport between family members and couples.

That kind is brilliant, and makes me tear up:

I don't mind it from other people if the PDA is something simple, like a quick kiss, or a hug, or holding hands or whatever.

It would make me a little uncomfortable if people were making out on public transport though, for example.

I hadn’t really considered sexual PDA. I know some people who are uncomfortable holding hands or even seeing other people hold hands.

Personally speaking, I am cool with hand-holding, hugging, and kissing or seeing others do it.

Holding hands, hugs or hello / goodbye kisses are fine to see or do.

I don't think of that as PDA but maybe I'm wrong about the meaning.
imo, usually PDA means couples who are making out or groping in public.
That could include at private parties etc.

Yuck.

Hand holding and hugging are often thought of as mild forms of public displays of affection. It makes sense since they are ways to express affection.

Quote:
A public display of affection (PDA) is any act of intimacy between a couple that is in view of others. Hugging, kissing, or holding your partner’s hand in public are some examples of PDA.

If that's what it means then I'm good with it.
It's nice to see love instead of fighting, apathy, or self-centeredness.

Just like with sex I have boundaries and standards when it comes to Public Displays of Affection

I would NOT make out with my boyfriend in public!! !

Making out should be reserved for private just between you and him!

It can include sexual behavior too, like groping. I don’t like being groped in public. Seeing others making out wouldn’t really bother me too much. Well, there are limits.

This thread isn’t in the Adult Forum and it’s not about sex. If people are making out in public, they aren’t likely to have sex there.

Hand-holding, hugging, kissing - okay by me. I'll do that myself so i can't very well object to it.

Much more than that and I start to get uncomfortable. I wouldn't mind so much if i really had the impression that the people doing it were just so into each other that they couldn't resist and we're oblivious to anything but each other. More often than not though, when it happens, there seems to be something performative about it and I don't like being made someone's audience.
