How can you change what you're attracted to? Does anyone know?

I don't think you can.
I am drawn to who I am drawn to. No set criteria or type other than intelligence and eccentricity seem to be huge magnets for me.
I think you just need to be patient and bide your time until the right person comes along.

I've usually ended up with women who
weren't precisely to my desires, at first.
(My wife was pretty close though). I
find that one grows more appreciative
of the appearance of someone, through
loving familiarity. Still, I don't think that
I could go too far from what I find desirable.

...then it is no longer "you," merely someone else in your body. :P

I wanted an out going, tall, long haired, blue eyed surfer who would sing and play the guitar for me. I married a shy, short, fillipino, dark hair, brown eyes, who sings as good as me..........ok, I don't sing well. Yet he still takes my breath away. I didn't settle, I just fell in love with my best friend...what are ya gonna do?

...well volunteers are still needed. I'm not volunteering, I'm quite happy with who I'm attracted to right now, leaving a lobotomy out of the question.

...maybe I should go put up fliers for a "debate" in the PP&R forum...

I can't change who I'm attracted to, but I can change how much I react to any given attraction... I can basically will myself to turn off (although warming up to the same person again is a little harder unless something changes on either side...)

I can change what I'm attracted to. Well not on a basic level, there are somethings I'm just not attracted to... like men.

It's more like I can find a seed of physical attraction in someone and let it grow. Or I can consider personalities and how it would be nice to be with different sorts of women.

There are a few base line attraction qualities, like demureness, friendliness, smarts, respectful, humility... personality traits that I like.

But the rest of the details can be filled in like a mad-libs... and if I consider her an quality person who I would like to be with... well then I'm attracted.

Let's take something I really don't find attractive at all, a nose ring. If I found someone with many other qualities that I like, and want to try a relationship with her... I could change my attraction and actually start to even like nose rings after a while. It's not that hard to do really...

Sure. I'll lobotomize you.

You can't.

Trust me. I've considered electric shock therapy.

What attracts me is usually what's bad for me.

Here is what I am attracted to:

Liberal, animated sitcom-loving, non-asexual Aspie women, preferably at least 25 years of age.
