I'm developing feelings for someone that I really shouldn't be. I've tried getting it off my mind, but it goes through my head constantly when I'm around them.
Any tips on how to squoosh it?

Try and hate them, lol?
Pick out their faults (if you can see any?)
Get totally caught up in your obsession?
Do something that will ensure they never have interest back?

Cannot think of anything else other than to just endure it and ride it out?
I have had a person obsession for 15 months, although I doubt you have a person obsession, but no tactic I have tried to get rid of the feelings has worked. :?

You'd think those would be good ideas, but they're all pretty normal fare for me
I pick faults in *everyone* I meet, but often that's what ends up endearing them to me... and oh, how I try to hate everyone :P
Seriously though, it's not that simple to be rid of. I've known this person for a fairly long time, so it's not just a case of pushing them away (god knows I've tried)!
As for burying myself in my obsessions - most people who know me are already used to me waffling on about them :(

Try to avoid spending time with them

Announce yourself, and get squished

Look for someone else, as you avoid spending time with them (this probably won't work so well if the two aren't combined)

Avoid touch, closeness, or learning more about them.

Relive your worst breakups.

On the other hand, which kind of "shouldn't be"? Maybe the answer really is to just go for it.

Dunno. A lot of people who know me have taken the time to read up on Asperger Syndrome (I'm like a walking infomercial :P), so the risk is there, even if not too great.

I wouldn't worry about it. I am sure there is only a minimal chance, and anyway, it might be another way to kill this once and for all if they did see it, or even offer an opportunity. You didn't say why you shouldnt have feelings for them ?

Doesn't seem right. I can't really go into my reasons - that's what I edited into oblivion
I don't think them finding out would kill it, so much as make my realationship with them very difficult - a problem, seeing as we attend the same Uni and have the same circle of friends. I'd have to give a life story of the last 3 years to explain it properly, but... things wouldn't be the same any more.

I am going through the same thing, and started to read this thread, hoping that someone would have some good advice. I have had a crush on a neighbor ever since I moved to my present home. It's not good, because he is getting married soon. I tried to fight it in every way possible, but it just gets worse. :?

I know that feeling all too well, was a huge issue in the past...and it wasn't even due to any members here, just people that might somehow find me online and put two and two together.

Tis difficult to control who you become attracted to. But if it is someone you definitely know you should not date, then wait on it, and it should eventually blow over...for the most part.

I have zero control over my emotions. I find it's better to ignore them.

I know exactly what you mean... but it's not really something I can just ignore, the reminders are far too many and far too frequent!
Also, AAAAAAAAARGH. My situation has anything but improved since yesterday. I'd say that I've *undone* all my emotion-squooshing.

I recently went through this, although I've had these feelings to some degree since I first met her.

I don't know if that someone in your life is like the person I like, but my 'person of interest' is not interested in me for anything other than friendship.

Although it created a very difficult space of time with us, I came right out and told her what I feel about her.
This basically shocked her, I think, and almost drove her completely away from me.
It took me a while to help sort things out so we could once more be friends, and I have had to put my feelings away again.
you
I don't know if being straight with this person about not only your feelings, but how you see a more serious relationship with them turning out, would help or hinder your situation.
I suppose it would also matter what type of relationship you want with this person considering you are correct that you really shouldn't be having whatever feelings you are currently having.

Would it help if you discussed this with someone who knew both of you?

Abour 90% of people just wouldn't believe me if I was straight about my feelings! I joke about them far too much... real 'boy who cried wolf' situation. I don't think that talking to a mutual friend would help much either (or just coming out and saying it), because it'd find its way back to them sooner or later, and I REALLY don't need this being out in the open.

Sorry if I seem to be shooting down advice left, right and center - Believe me, I'm taking it all in! I'm just rather pessimistic... :P
