after reading alot of these posts i'd like to say how i got over my nerves in somecases. i'd like to state i'm only 17 so it is easier for me.

one method i use is deep/controlled breathing i've used this all my life to help me clam down and it works wonders
another is i slow my thoughts almost to the point of not thinking helps the anxiety not build as quickly
the next is somewhat unconventional caffine and sugar it puts me on edge so i am more prompt to acting irrational(to my own degree)

i always try and find the bizarre humor, in every circumstance;

if it's good, it's fun. if it's bad, it's funny. problem solved!

it's no cure all, but it does help me see new perspectives on things.

I tend to laugh at myself. It seems to make me feel better.

Breathing helps as well.

I find caffeine is best avoided too, especially since I take Concerta for ADD, and too much sugar makes me feel lethargic.

I find exercising is a good way of getting rid of "nervous energy", finding something to engage your mind and distract your thoughts is good too.

Though I've come to the conclusion I'm always going to be the nervous/worrying sort, so I best just get on in life regardless. Better to try and fail afterall..

I can't live without caffeine, especially considering my life only offers enough time for 5-6 hours of sleep per day.

This i can understand, as I take hour-long walks every day to clear my mind (and get out of that sometimes-crazy house that I live in for an hour)

For the most part, I've been able to carry on in most aspects of life regardless of the circumstances, although I still fail at getting women...

I'd like to clarify the old psychiatric myth that there are psychoses and neuroses with psychoses being true mental illness and neuroses only being symptoms of "the nerves" (i.e., periphery nervous system). Anxiety and other neurotic states are emergent properties of the brain's function as much as anything else.
