It was disappointing. Based on my limited knowledge of social goings-on, I thought I was going to a place that is considered trendy and where young people go. Instead I witnessed the disgusting sight of 30-year-old women trying to make themselves look 20: way too much make-up and clothes that definitely aren't flattering for their figure. I circled around one of the two bars I "patronized" trying to see if there were any women I would be half-willing to talk to (I wasn't really expecting to find anything more than short-term anyway). I eventually made a half-hearted attempt at conversation with some or other girl, but I didn't care for it, so I left soon thereafter.

(I mainly went because TV and movies perpetuate the notion that nightclubs and bars are the places young people go to meet persons of the opposite sex for liaisons. I figured, being sexually in need, and bored with nothing much to do anyway, there was no harm in giving it a shot.)

I really need to formulate more ideas of places to go to meet attractive, available, interesting young women.

it also depends on the bar. The places you're looking for are likely there, but you have to ask around to find the 'hip' clubs. Clubs are bars with dancing. Bars are where people drink. Look in the yellow pages (online or not), or maybe some web sites might have what you're looking for.

Maybe, but I didn't think they were supposed to be (although trends like that can change so quickly). St. Louis has two areas that are particularly known for their nightlife: Washington Avenue and Laclede's Landing. I tried the former (although honestly I didn't visit every place on that street, but I figured two was a representative sample).

Coffee shops are less sleazy. Plus it is easier to sit with a book or laptop if you need a break from socializing or an excuse not to. (I like props :P )

Ah, the cougar bar, where older women are looking for one night stands with younger males. I'd stay clear of those bars, bars aren't the greatest places to meet women. I went for years and years and it didn't matter how drunk i was i still found it hard to talk to women. The bigger and better the bar the worst because you pretty much have to lean right in next to their ear and speak really loudly so they can hear you.

i see that one or your interests is politics, may i suggest volunteering with one of the political parties in your area, there could be the chance that some young girls interested in politics are volunteering as well.

I go to Borders a lot, but I see more middle-aged and elderly women there than women my age. Most of the young women are high schoolers who apparently are studying for some test (last time I remember seeing a lot of high schoolers, it was around finals time). I wonder where the women between the ages of 20 and 25 spend their free time.

Try a coffee place that is not a chain!
You live in St Louis- aren't there some Route 66 cool places around there? Historic neon signs and stuff from before the Starbucks era?

Yeah, I don't drink coffee either, so I never actively sought out such places. No, there really isn't much Route 66 stuff around here except a few little signs on some of the roads that say "Historic Route 66" (the roads are known better by other names nowadays). Honestly, I don't find la femme bohème any more attractive than the bar fly. These types are generally interested in things like theater, ballet, the symphony, musicals, and art exhibitions (none of which particularly appeal to me although I tried to come off as l'artiste briefly in college because I had seen clips of movies where the artist attracts beautiful women and then has earth-shattering sex with them, which struck me as appealing).

If it is only sex you want, try the Craigslist "casual encounters" section.
I can't believe I just suggested that.
Forget this information immediately.
