Have you ever encountered people online who have change their whole attitude(negatively or positively) toward you just after seeing your picture?

in my case it was always negatively.

Yeah, that's happened to me a couple times, at least temporarily. I remember once when the administrator of another forum, who is usually pretty strict, started being really nice to me for a few days after I posted in the "Show Yourself!" thread :/

Seeing is disappointing topic

I think I know what you young people are saying. I do not know what 90% of the posters here at Wrong Planet look like. I have seen a few. I have not posted a picture of myself, nor even an avatar, (but I am thinking about one.) To me, photos are not indicative of the content of the poster's thoughts. And people often distort physical descriptions. I will describe what I look like, but no one would imagine the details.

Selo and lepetitprince, I imagine you to be young teens. As for me, I am in my fifties. I am a woman. I have shoulder length brown/gray hair and greeny-hazel eyes. I wear gold framed metal glasses. This description could fit a lot of posters here. My kids think I look like an old geeky woman. Old? 8O

We should not judge a book by its cover, but we do so nonetheless. :?

Don't know, probably. I hate it when one gets judged by the way they look. I guess if they're only interested in having a love connection, then that changes a lot. There are so many pics though that it's hard for me to remeber who's who. I feel like if anyone with Asperger's knows what it's like to deal with NTs, then they should know better or at least have learned something from making a perception about someone.

Lepetite, yeah, part of the reason I pulled my pic was the fact that I just got annoyed by how much more I was getting challenged.

IRL people judge each other by how they look constantly, they aren't quite as bad on the pure social level once you hit your 20's but you'll see it that when people's maturity laxes or slackens a bit (during certain times or in certain company) - it comes back. Its not an absolute that your supposed to take a look in the mirror as a kid, figure out what a person who visually looks like you should dress like, think like, believe in, listen to, want to be when they grow up, date, etc. - but society does put a lot of reins on you in that regard which, to jump out of that control, takes having enough strength to actually put it back in their faces or just completely overpower it.

But yeah, who your allowed to be based on what you look like tends to be rather limited.

maybe it wasn't your looks (in which case a person who would do that would be highly shallow in the first place) but, the fact they might have saw your post about not wanted kids because of your disability. Most young woman want kids with the person they are interested in.

You know what LePetitPrince? For all your insecurites I actually like you. If I knew of any girls around your age I would actually encourage them to get on here and talk to you. Ever once in awhile you post something that lets everyone know that you have a heart and that is the most attractive feature anyone could possibly have. :) I know that life has not been easy for you, but you have what it takes to make a relationship work whether you look like someone out of GQ or not!

^^ the thread was a simple question , I didn't ask for a psychological analysis of myself.

:) :o :D You make me smile! Thanks I needed that! For the question I have never actually looked at a picture after I got to know a person that made me think any less of them, but then again I don't actually fit in with the rest of the worlds concepts on what is hot or not!

Gay!! :P Image

Seriously , I was never been told ugly online (even tho people usually lie when they are asked about a pic) but I noticed many time that the excitement of the other person fades all of sudden once they see my picture , like a balloon that was growing fast and suddenly lost all its air. This can't be just from my imagination because it happened to me a lot.

I'll have to see your pic to be the judge of that. I'm kidding, if it makes you feel any better, mine's the very last one. I did recieve one reply. If you see it, don't say anything, I'm a very sensative person.
