A year ago a friend, who I want to be my girlfriend but isn't because of practicality, said to me she prefers me when I have a little weight on. Though she is a little slimmer then me, I am wondering if she does not like me to be slimmer then her.

It does occur to me that most woman might not like their boyfriends to be slimmer then them. Some have even admitted it.

If it is the case, then it might not necessarily be the up most priory to lose weight, especially as one gets older. As at the moment I am going to the gym to work out and if I lose too much weight, it will be harder to put on any muscle. I wonder if there are less pressure for men to lose weight because of this issue.

I could go either way....though when I dated a guy who was signifigantly overweight and he complained about my weight..when he was a about 3 of me...that was lame.

and with really really skinny guys...there is an issue of hip bones.... :?

I don't think this is an issue I will ever have to worry about... :)

Any man skinnier than me could be considered morbidly underweight. :?

That would be sort of fun. I could look after him and feed him up. :D

I'm pretty slim. I could always put on weight, but it goes to the wrong spots and then I become fatty mc fat.

HATE it. Just cuz of my self-esteem, I'm sure, but it's never been ok with me. Shorter is fine, I found out this year, as long as he weighs more- than it can be sort of like a Tom Cruise/Nicole Kidman thing- as long as I'm kinda waifish.

It wouldn't be a problem for me.

My husband is quite thin compared to me, It is not a preference, it just ended up that way. I prefer someone snuggly.

Didn't vote bc. the poll answers are too strident & extreme.

My ex-husband was thinner than I am, and we were together for almost 9 years. he was taller than I but we both weighed about the same (within 20 lbs. of each other). His bones were uncomfy for me to feel-he was in great physical "athletic" shape, but he was "gristle-y" (wiry, with dense musculature).

However, my preference is for my companion to be nearer my dimensions/consistency: tough structure underneath, but softly squishy on surface. My current boyfriend is heavier than I, by about 60 lbs. He's very snuggly & comfy, moreso than my ex.

look at my post in thread : [ Poll ] Your boyfriend to be shorter than you?

Same analysis can be applied here....even tho you might find some couples where the man is slimmer.

I would say that you have more of a point about the height thing. I say this because some girls I know have a real thing about skinny, effeminate, elfin looking boys. Thinking about it, I believe I spent thursday evening clinging onto the barrier of some music venue gazing up at some exceptionally pretty, slender young men. (their music is good too http://www.myspace.com/lateofthepier).

I deviated from my original point, but yes, skinny boys can be hot.

Maybe it's geographical too. My view might be a bit warped.

I grew up around the entertainment industry in Los Angeles county- where girls MUST be skinnier in comparison. But, if they are skinny it's considered ok for them to have an inch or two on the guy, as long as it's all in the legs. Also, a lot of guys that go into acting or other forms of performance are short. I don't know why this is, but you just get used to it.

edit: I just read that back, and WOW I sound shallow. Not saying I agree with this, it's just the viewpoint I grew up around.
