I vote red. Underappreciated, different, and the market isn't saturated with people dying their hair to look the part.

Stuff it just being guys, I'm ruining your results. :p

Although it seems I agree with the majority anyway. >> Probably because I come from a family of blondes. XD

do you have any data to back this?

in my understanding, red is an extremely popular color for dying.

and isn't blonde just as different from red as red is from blonde?

It didn't used to matter to me, but I'm starting to favor blondes lately. 8)

what about brunettes?

For some strange reason I've never much liked straw/platinum blond. Other shades of blond are ok. Red hair can look nice too.

I base my claims on empirical observation of the Jersey Girl in her natural habitat. Not a day goes by where I don't see a very large proportion of the women on campus with bleached blond hair; I don't see much dyed red hair at all comparatively.

And red hair is fundamentally "different" from blonde hair and all other types of hair; blonde simply represents one end of the continuum of varying degrees of brown pigmentation without black pigmentation. Red is its own pigmentation, and the gene coding for it has an overall tendency to wreak havok on the individual carrying it including but not limited to a complete lack of pigmentation beyond spots er freckles.

I'm tickled pink that red is doing so well here; most the people I talk to in real life have rather less than favorable dispositions toward gingers...

Yeah but nonetheless, I STILL find red hair more attractive than blonde hair.

Hair color is irrelevant. In fact physical appearance is also rather irrelevant.

A person's likes, dislikes, morals, choices, and personality is what really defines them.

Just recently while I was volunteering at the local nursing home and one of the residents showed me a picture of her 18-year old granddaughter and asked what I thought. I found myself having insufficient information to say anything. I just don't judge people by their appearance anymore.

Thats really sweet, but appearances Do count. There are biological reasons for it but the fact remains that people ARE judged on their physical appearance whether they, you , or anyone else really likes it or not.

Different hair colours suit different people. Statistically I am less likely to be attracted to redheads than probably any other natural colour (brunette, blonde and brown being about equal for me - shade also matters, I tend not to like light blonde), but I have had crushes on redheads (see personality, importance of).

indeed , im in the tough situation that i am in a long and committed relationship with someone that im not so much physically attracted to- it's having a good deal of adverse affect on me. i love her and that's a natural fact.. and im "choosing to not be shallow" by being with her.. but theres a lot missing there in basic emotional needs when the attraction just isnt there.

Actually, that's probably because dyed red hair is a /lot/ harder to spot than bleached blonde hair. Bleached blonde hair seems to be fashionable simply because it's obvious that it's bleached, it is possible to get dyes that aren't so obvious.
