You always here about people finding their significant other online, but has this happened to any of you guys? I'm guessing that many people with Aspergers Syndrome find meet their future lovers online due to being anxious around others and being socially inept.

I've met four boyfriends online. Two I am still in touch with, three of the four were like I expected them to be when I met them in person.

How was the one guy you met not like you expected him to be like?

He seemed a nice guy at first though he was alot older than he'd said.
He turned nasty though and tried to hurt me. I got away ok but it scared me alot.

I do tend to trust too easily and was amazed that someone wanted to meet me, because I'd never had a boyfriend before.

The other three were nice people, I was much more careful when I met them and didn't rush into it.

Not yet. I'll only use WP to talk to girls online, since I don't have MySpace or Facebook. If I was to seek a relationship, it would be IRL, since most of the girls I talk to here are too far from where I live.

I got picked up by an internet perv online whom I "dated" for a while, until I met my first girlfriend online. I only met her in real life once, so it wasn't really a relationship. Long distance doesn't work as far as I can see.

I met my current boyfriend in real life (after party for a convention), but we then spoke online for a month or so before we met up again, which was when we started dating. I got to know him online.

That was exactly what happened to me. But it learnt me my lesson, and I'm pretty confident at being able to avoid people like that now.

I met my girlfriend at the dutch aspie-chat :). I was having a big fight with someone else there and a fourth person was asking everyone for MSN adresses. To get that guy to stop I gave it and for some reason I also ended up with my girlfriends MSN. Then we started talking for a while, then a date, etc. etc., and now we are living together.

I also met my beste (female) friend on the internet.

I also met several girls I wanted to date but who didn't want me on the internet and all of them later in real life.

I must be a geek :).

No, doubt that would work for me anyway. The odds of meeting a girl who has Aspergers who happens to live in the same town as me are astronomical. In fact I don't think i've ever met any person online who lives in the same town as me. English people are fairly dispersed online.

well, yes, but I sadly ruined it by sleeping with an ex. I had lost my marbles which explained WHY I did that, the damage won't repair easy, I thought it was over so started flirting with other women, but I had no idea she wanted me back in a casual relationship as opposed to a serious one like before

I love her greatly, more than anyone, before her I was with a compulsive liar for 3 years, she pulled me up from the damage that was done to me, gave me confidence........ a future with her would delight me and make me happy

I hope for a happy ending

Mine was 170 kilometers away. For three years I was in a train a LOT. The time was hard but in the end we found a home together.

The weirdest thing is I was staying a lot at her house then, but she was living with her father. That was pretty hard for me and for him... and now he suddenly died.

But that has nothing to do with the fact it can work with some distance.

Apparently not if you slept with an ex.

Ahah... I almost went to canterbury uni. >>;; Before I discovered Brookes it was where I wanted to go. So maybe it's not so impossible after all.

I met my fiancé online (in an MMORPG). We lived quite a ways from each other but he moved to my part of the country. I wasn't even looking for love when we found each other. I consider myself very lucky in that department.
