I work at Subway, and one of my co-workers, a new hire, was recently fired.

Why you ask? Because when closing, she left the friggin door UNLOCKED and didn't bother to set the alarm.
We don't have working cameras, BTW. She also refused to take inventory.

Right now, she's on vacation and doesn't even know she got fired.

Another time, the cash register stopped working, and she was told to figure out the price with a calculator. Lo and behold, she refused to do it.

This the same person who tried to get out of working by having me fill in on the very day I'm not supposed to work. I just told her that I couldn't because I had so much studying to do for college (I didn't). She claimed to be sick, so I first told her I was busy and to call me back if she couldn't find anyone else. She calls me back; I say I'm really busy. She then says she'll call some more people.

If she didn't want to get out of working, why then did she not call those people before calling me? (I didn't have to fill in, fortunately)

Anyway, what is the worst co-worker you've had?

well, there's always people like that out there.

Had someone recently quit (probably ahead of being fired; after cleaning up after him, I'd recommend it). Supposed to pick up computer equipment, would call and arrange an appointment, not show up, and then close his tickets out. We had a whole hatful of people who were sitting in piles of old computers. I got to clean up after him. Don't know what his motivation (or lack thereof), but I can't understand why some folks won't put in at least the minimum effort...

The worst coworker I ever had got fired on Thursday. He was in is 60's and extremely incompetant and a real @$$hole. My boss worked with him years ago at another company and hired him aout a year before I started. Everything this guy had done was a disaster if and when he did any work. He spent most of his time buying old junk cars on Ebay. My boss didn't want to admit he made a mistake hiring ths guy and protected him for as long as he could. Everybody at my job was riding my boses' @$$ to get rid of him. It just killed my boss to fire him but it had to be done.
