So there's this cute new barmaid at the pub I regularly go to on Monday nights. She's only been there... three weeks, I think, and every time I go in there she's all smiles (although admittedly she's probably paid to be, I suppose), and we have a little bit of flirty banter with each other. She even told me her first name the other week, when she had no need to.

I'm not reading anything more into this than my brain clearly insists I should, but I'm just impressed with how I'm handling this. No blushes, tongue-tiedness or loss of sensible speech control, just easy chatter with an attractive girl. Of course, were this to continue to the point where I felt like asking her out, things might change dramatically, but at this point I'm fairly convinced that were I to do so, she'd tell me she had a boyfriend/husband/girlfriend, that she was between relationships, or that she was married to the sea - or something along those lines...

or that she was married to the sea - only if her first name is Brandy...;)

As an experiment, see how much more or less friendly she gets correlated to your tips...

Bar employees get hit on constantly. So it's hard to say...

It's not, thankfully. There are lots of chavs around where I live, though, so it very nearly could have been.

Yeah, there is that, I suppose (although the major clientèle of the pub is considerably older than I am, it would seem - so if they are trying to chat her up, they'll likely just be viewed as dirty old men. I'm not that old yet).

I don't think what I'm doing is openly hitting on her, though. If I was, I'd be a LOT more self-conscious... and it'd be a lot more obvious

I just think it's nice I'm able to do it without making an utter idiot of myself...
