I think there is far too much negativity on this forum. people come here just to tell the world how hopeless their romantic life is. There are also alot of people who firmly believe Aspergers has completely eliminated the possibility of finding love for them.

This isn't coming from an expert on relationships. I've never been in one, and i'm not entirely happy with it myself. But I also realise that finding a relationship isn't worth letting myself get consumed by doubt and inadequacy. Relationships are supposed to improve on life, not define it, despite what we are genetically programmed to believe.

If there's one thing i've noticed, romance comes most naturally to people who appear not to need it.

So. List Five things you like about your love life, your relationship. Or, list five things you like about being single.

I'll list mine:
FIVE REASONS I LIKE BEING SINGLE
1. I only have to spend my money on myself
2. I can play videogames without anyone being able to criticise me!
3. I'm allowed to flirt
4. I don't have to put up with any female irrationality
5. I don't have to go to noisy clubs/bars and try and hold a conversation.

Have you ever seen "My Fair Lady" there is a song on that movie that the Henry Higgins character sings (It might be called "I shall never let a woman in my life") it is hilarious. . .I think you would like it!! !

1) It's cheap
2) No-one to be paranoid about me looking at women
3) No expectations on any given night
4) No feeling obligated towards any one woman
5) Chronic lonliness giving me an excuse to drink!

4) well, you know...whenever you want...provided the kids are asleep or out, chores don't need

2. It's unambiguous whether it should've died. There's no doubt it needed to.
3. It's much easier to be right. You just do things. No one tries to stop you. Way more efficient.

Five things I LOVE about being in my first real relationship!! !!

1. I have the greatest guy in the world!!
2. I feel like Im loved for real now.
3. He loves me for who I am and doesnt expect me to change myself for him.
4. He likes to spoil me
5. Were both aspies so we both know how aspies act so we can work anything out.
6. He cooks and wants to do everything to make me happy!! !! !

I know thats more than 5 but I am just so happy now!! !! !

I see your 6 and raise you 30 (reasons to be happy being single)

30. I never have to share the covers.
29. When visiting out of town friends, I can sleep on the floor or the couch in the living room instead of having to get a hotel room.
28. I don’t have to go see "Princess Diaries" or the like… or hear about if I fall asleep during it.
27. I never have to answer the difficult questions like "Does this dress make my butt look big?"
26. I can not notice a girl’s new hair cut and it is not really a big deal.
25. If I am late for anything, I have only myself to blame.
24. I can snooze for two hours in the morning… or longer.
23. I can choose to not attend weddings and people chalk it up to "he’s a guy".
22. I can snore with complete immunity.
21. I can talk in my sleep (some poeple say I do… of course, I wouldn’t know one way or the other).
20. The floor works very well as a dresser/closet.
19. I don’t have to change my sheets until I want to.
18. I can use the same towel for weeks at a time.
17. When eating at a restaurant, I don’t have to share my meal with anyone.
16. Holidays are simple… no second family groups to fit into the schedule.
15. I only have to buy one ticket instead of two.
14. I don’t have to redefine what "a clean bathroom" means.
13. I don’t have to share the remote control when watching TV.
12. I never have to ask permission to hang out with the guys.
11. I can hang out with females whenever I want to.
10. When I have had a bad day, I don’t have to talk to anyone about it if I don’t want to.
09. No shortage of "me" time.
08. All my income is discretionary income.
07. I can change my stated plans at the drop of a hat.
06. I never, EVER have to purchase feminine products.
05. All four and a half weeks of every month are pretty much the same for me.
04. I can leave the toilet seat up (like God intended when He gave me a penis).
03. My hairstyle (or lack thereof), facial hair (or lack thereof), wardrobe, bedroom/bathroom/living room decor, etc. do not have to be approved by committee.
02. In fact, ALL my decisions are mine alone.... none of them have to be approved by committee.

Nice list LoveableNerd!! !! I see u like being single huh? I couldnt stand it much but I love my guy and it beats being single anyday. lol.

and Frank, yea i think the attraction is a lot better since we are both aspies. theres distance between us but we both dont mind it: We're in love and hey, the distance wasnt gonna stop that.

Being single makes me want to bash my head into my desk.

At first I thought you'd written Princess Bride, then I realized you meant some other move and rage subsided.

okay, 5 rules about casual dating.

1. there's not enough chance to get sick of each other.
2. you see each other because you WANT to instead of cause you HAVE to.
3. rules and boundaries are spelled out from the get-go, so no disappointments.
4. if it you don't want to date anymore just be polite about it and you could still be friends.
5. you always pay dutch so not hard on the wallet.

When in college, I wrote a column called "The Cynical Girl", for the campus magazine-mostly lists, including at least two on topic of "Why would you want one anyway ?" about relationships (boyfriend-girlfriend). Also did column on the appealing aspects of being in relationship-because I was conflicted about the whole thing, and when I was "single" (without a boyfriend) I was motivated to both defend & bemoan that status (it wasn't by choice).

Other people-not me-wrote competing lists (which were published in the magazine) of why a cold beer was better than either a man or a woman (each written by person of opposite gender, arguing their point/stance). Am not much for hard-hearted rhetorical competitions & oneupsmanship anymore, though. Those who are single & happy about it, those who are coupled & happy about it-aren't taking anything away from each other by being satisfied with their respective situations.

5 REASONS WHY I LIKE BEING SINGLE

1. I don't have to deal with someone's moods.

2. I'm not expected to go and see anyone on a regular basis.

3. I can sleep with whoever I please. (As long as they agree to it, of course.)

4. I have more time to pursue my interests.

5. I have more money because I'm not spending it on relationship-related stuff.
