Well my online GF years back didn't dump me cause of AS since she never knew, so no.

Sorry that you got dumped cause of it though, but if a partner can't accept AS as part of you then they aren't the right match for you.

That counts. Let me gues...not 'irreconcilable differences,' but just 'too weird.'

Sorry, guys, she dumped you for this....not fair. At least Aspies are fun. And honest. And loyal.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I broke up about two days ago with my girlfriend, and we mutually agreed to break up in good terms because we drifted apart.

I wouldn't say my HFA was purely responsible as I told her almost a month after we first met, and we were together for several years. Although I do suspect that despite the good understanding, good times, love and ability to talk to each we had, our lifestyles clashed eventually and we thought it'd be better to only be friends from now on, and go our own ways.

A relative of mine broke up with her boyfriend of almost 7 years because she suspected him of being Aspergers/AS.

Originally her concern was just about the increasing difficulty she was having in getting him to talk about or even admit the problems they were having.

After hearing about AS, and reading about it, she begun to wonder if he were AS, and bought him a book on the subject, which he didn't read.

She realised that she was afraid of what it might involve in the long term, particularly the children they might have, seeing as her own father had tendencies that way. So she finished with him.

She has often since felt very sad about it. A bit horrified also that she broke it off because of a "disability", ( she wouldn't want to seem discriminatory  ), but when she remembers the difficulties she was having getting him to talk about and deal with the future of their relationship, not so sad.

:study:

No. I broke up with my first one and the second one, I moved on when he was rude to me on the phone one night. So I started to meet men again in the area after I put my profile back up. I was too chicken to tell him I wanted to break up because I didn't want to make his life even more depressing since he was already depressed about things going on in his life. And I wasn't expecting him to figure out on his own I broke up with him without telling him but I was surprised he did figure it out.

yeah that counts pakled, yeah the ironic thing is she is studying at university/colledge to become a nurse which means one day she will encounter other people with aspergers and autism

actually, she moved out, and moved into her (current) husband's apartment. I now realize that it was because I was too much of a recluse, not enough fun, and spent way too much time on the PC (and this was in the dark, DOS days...;)

She wanted a house, I didn't see how I'd afford one on my salary. She wanted to go out to bars and party, I didn't. According to my (current) wife, who found all my love letters, she never loved me (wonder about the 'lack of bias' in that...;)

Well, the divorce will be 20 years come next May...so i'm over it...;) I think I'll celebrate by going to see the next Star Trek movie...;)

relationships take work...I didn't work...ergo...
