I had long thought this was a thread at WP already, but I searched for a while, and it turns out there isn't one, so I've started a new one here. Share your funny, pathetic, made up, or otherwise interesting stories here.

Well, this story isn't made up.

I first met Serissa (irl) in the Campus Center lounge at BSC. I was using the computer kiosks to spam racist message boards with interracial porn pictures, with the help of a high-functioning autistic. I'm not kidding. I talked to her a bit, she asked something along the lines of "What the hell are you doing?" Andrew (the other Aspie) replied, "They're racists, therefore they deserve porn." After she learned the secrets of our petty and ridiculous vendetta, we chatted for a few minutes, whilst I learned she was on her way to a meeting for Adventure Role-playing Club (it was the only meeting she ever went to). I expressed some of my views on the matter, and randomly said that I'd email her about it later (this was my excuse to get her email, and it worked).

Eight months later, I'm typing this message, at her computer, on the boards she brought me to.

(The original ending of this post, before I hit the 'edit' button was probably too raunchy for the non-mature forums. So be it.)

My girlfriend was TAKEN BY THE NINJAS

I came home from work to find the house empty

there was a note saying "don't try to find me it's over you weirdo"

but I know no woman could ever leave me like that..I'm too sexy!

Therfore I eventually deduced she was taken by ninjas...THEY WROTE THE NOTE IN HER HANDWRITING...which made my crusade even more ruthless

Excellent reasoning. How do you do it, Sherlock?

btw, I think you're using inductive reasoning (i.e. using specific evidence to reach a general conclusion) but I could be wrong.

I met my boyfriend through Yahoo chat. I hadn't chatted in several YEARS, then I get on and he starts chatting with me. He noticed me because of my unusual screen name: roaring_koala.

I totally wasn't expecting or trying to meet anyone, and boom! there he was.

My current husband is the best friend of my first husband and was the best man at the first wedding. I really wish I could say this is a joke but it is not

Pretty straight-forward, he worked with my father, I met him over there when I went to meet up with my father and get some work on my computer and new parts. We are still together almost 6 yrs later.

Both me and renaeden are on an autism emailinglist called AutisticTreehouse.

renaeden saw me there, and talked about Star Trek with me for a while, trying to pique my interest. She thought I was nice, and wanted to get to know me more.
Unfortunatley me being the blind dullard that I am, completley forgot about our conversations on the Treehouse...

I found WrongPlanet, and got posting on that. There was a thread about "Why do Trekkie Aspies get such a rough ride?" or something to that affect that I posted in, being the Trekkie that I am. renaeden, having joined as well, saw my post, and PMd me, inquiring as to my Trekkie status. That's how we got talking on WP, then we exchanged Yahoo ids and talked on Yahoo Messenger. :)

renaeden wanted to meet me, and I her. She decided she'd fly from Perth to Melbourne (I live not far from Melbourne, currently) to meet me. Which completley shocked me, I'd never had someone go to such lengths to meet me. Usually people are doing that to get away from me... j/k

Anyways, we physically met on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne.

:)

It was the only meeting I went to, by the way, for two reasons.

1. I did not have a car at the time and needed to use the train to get home. I could not stay for a full RP session because of this; and even the meetings were held too late- I, a 5'2" weak female (in RP terms, I say I have a strength of 0- I have never RPG'ed and yet I have started to pick up on the lingo and can thus use such ridiculous hyperbole), and waiting around, alone, after dark, was really, really creepy.

2. I was sitting at the end of an oblong table in the meeting. Toward the end, this girl got up and started working her way down the table, giving massages. Getting closer. And closer. And closer. Then the meeting ended. Thank god. ((I was pretty damn tactaphobic then. I seem to have been largely cured at this point. Guess why.))

My SO was a door guy at my favorite place to hang out, this hooka bar it's really small and mellow. I could sit and smoke and read with out having a ton of people bug me; that was when my show was on the air, I used to avoid places because I hate having people come up to me. We got to be good friends and eventually he asked me to dinner. (it took him a really long time to ask because he thought I wouldn't be interested since he is younger than me) We moved in together 3 weeks later, that was almost 4 years ago.

Luck (meaning I don't claim responsibility for successfully achieving socialization) was how I met anyone, let alone anyone I could have a relationship with. My ex-husband introduced me to his friends & co-workers, then after he left me one of them visited me & the rest is history... Met ex-husband through a college radio station show where strange people called in during the middle of the night. Met 1st boyfriend at a party (only went to a couple in high school), everyone was drunk or nearly, but we still talked & hit it off, as the saying goes. Doesn't make sense to me, apparently my ability to socialize is better than it seems-dunno' what else to call it but luck.
