I've gotten burned twice, and found that I don't really want to have a g/f (or b/f for that matter). I've found that I'm just happy being alone. Sure, I know some attractive girls, but I'm not about ready to try to get them to be my g/f. Rather, I just simply chat with them, or other such stuff along those lines. I don't want love right now, and I especially don't want a relationship. I know this is going to sound awfully feminine of me, but I guess one of the reasons (besides just being in my comfort zone now that I'm alone) is because the woman I date...well, they'd expect me to have sex with them. I don't want to have sex with them, at least not until marriage...and even THEN, I'm not even sure.

My question is...is this normal?

Don't worry about whether it's normal. Just do what you feel you should do.

I know I should do what I want to do...but is it...normal? IE, is there something wrong with me or something?

No, it's nothing wrong.

You are normal.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I have recently decided I want no one. I am perfectly fine being alone. I use to really want someone to share life with, but that's all in the past.

@ Mutantia - I wish I could adopt your attitude. Personally, I would say don't worry about whether such a trait is 'normal' or not - if you genuinely feel happier alone, then I see no reason why you shouldn't do so. I honestly wish I could say the same... it would make my personal life much less complicated! :D

Well, let's just say...over the past 3+ years, my innocence has been shattered. I've learned that people aren't always who they appear to be. As a result, I've decided to be alone. I'm honestly happy when I'm alone, just me and video games and classes of course. Just think: No one to wonder about whether they're the real deal or not. No one to worry about. No heartache to go through, etc.

You can protect yourself from the things you mentioned by avoiding becoming involved, but in protecting yourself from those things you also miss out on some potentially terrific experiences too.

just something to consider...

Yeah, but, in a simple pro/con anaylsis:

Pros:
Company
Love

Cons:
Being lied to
Heartache
Depression brought on by realizing you have chosen the wrong partner
Getting fed up all the time with your partner
etc.

I think the Cons win. Not only that, but I am HAPPY being alone :)

How about this :D

Pros
Company
Love
Friendship
Opportunities to meet interesting people
Discover new interests
Hone your social skills
Marry ?
Have children ?

Cons:
Being lied to
Heartache ( this one can happen alone or with someone else )
Depression brought on by realizing you have chosen the wrong partner
Getting fed up all the time with your partner
etc.

All depends how you weigh and view the world. But if you are happy being alone , then C'est la vie :)
