So, my friend's trying to set me up with this guy I've never met before. (I'm a gay guy for the record) I'm not very comfortable with the idea, but she keeps insisting we'd be perfect together, and she even gave him my phone number now. I've only been in one semi serious relationship, and had a few other "friends with benefits" type things with people I trust, so just a date with someone random who I've never met like this is extremely uncomfortable for me. Especially because of my AS I get nervous in social situations anyway. My first response was no freaking way, but there is a little voice inside me that's telling me I should go for it. I'm almost positive the whole thing'll tank, even if I go for it but it's not like it could hurt...

So what do you guys think, yay or nay? And has anyone ever gone on a blind date before? If so, please share!

I think blind dates are a bad idea. A blind meeting is a better idea. Meet on neutral ground with no commitments to stay for dinner or do anything else. That way, if you are seriously disappointed, you can just say "It was nice meeting you, bye."

What's the worst that could happen? You have a bad date? Big deal, you handle it, you move on. It's no big issue. Like you said, it couldn't hurt.

Or, he could be good for you and it could work out.

I say go for it.

Haha, thanks. I just talked to him on the phone for the first time. He seems cool. We share some of the same interests, so that's very good for me since I babble on about my interests so much because of my AS. We arranged a time and place to meet and everything. I'm sooooo freaking nervous though you have no idea. I never thought I'd do something like this.

lol. Don't worry so much. Just think about how much fun you two are going to have. I hope you have a great time.
