I would say that oral sex doesn't count but vaginal or anal do. What's your opinion?

I don't see that it makes much difference. It means whatever you think it means.

I don't know exactly, nor do I care. For me, that's like trying to define what the "best beer" is when I don't even drink.

I agree with this definition mostly.
If you're female, maybe those are 2 different types of virginity.
If you're a guy, I think those both count the same. And I suppose if you recieve anal, that's a dfiierent kind.

But really, it just means you haven't done that before, whatever that may be.

Why do people make such a big deal about putting a label on it?

If you have to apply categories to it, you could always think of each in context to virginity. For example, in most ways I'm no longer a virgin, but I'm still mostly virginal anally. I don't count that my boyfriend has done anything else to me in that area, I count whether parts of his body have been involved. I'm also a virgin to typical dating, as well as quite a few same sex activities.

Basically, physical virginity is all sorts of variable. Also, I consider a lot of people to be emotionally virginal, meaning they've never experienced emotional sex, or true intimacy, with a person, or in a certain way.

Or, you could just keep it simple and consider yourself no longer a virgin once you've had simple coitus, vaginal or anal.

Or, people could just not care and stop thinking about it altogether, and do what comes naturally to them. D

Strictly speaking, loss of sexual innocence - gaining any type of sexual knowledge - means a loss of virginity. Whether they admit it or not, this is the root cause of why many Religionists are dead-set against sex education in schools, as they believe that imparting even the most basic concepts of sexual hygeine and responsibility to their children destroys their innocence and removes (or at least threatens) their virginity.

Otherwise, my opinion is that when a person participates in any sexually-stimulating physical contact involving the genitals they lose their virginity.

So, knowing about sex means you ain't a virgin anymore? That's actually cool, cos next time someone asks me if I'm a virgin, I can say no and let them draw their own conclusions...

Some believe so, especially the religionists. For instance, Sharia Law (Islam) dictates that any girl that spends any time along with a man that is not a male relative must be assumed to have "dishonored" her self and her family. Many Christian groups oppose teaching "Sex Education" in public schools out of fear that their children's "innocence" will be lost, they will become raving homosexuals, and they'll all go straight to Hell.

These beliefs are irrational, of course, as is most religion-based dogma that addresses morality.

I don't see the point of that whole "protecting innocence" thing, cos by innocence they basically mean ignorance, and who the hell would want that?!

Any sexual contact with another person is losing your virginity.

Define "Sexual Contact" please.

Hugging while fully clothed? Kissing? "French" kissing?

A pelvic exam by a licensed physician under clinical conditions?

My hand sometimes acts like it has a mind of its own. Does that count?

Intercourse. That's what I've read.
