I've recently become a lot more interested in food. After a majority of a life spent in ignorance of the glories of nature's bounty I now partake of almost all it offers and delight in learning new recipes and trying to cook meals.

I'm wondering, do you think one can cook their way to a woman's heart? I mean, within reason. If a woman finds you reasonably physically attractive or thinks you have a likeable personality, if you cook a tasty imaginative meal for them is that likely to make them want you more?

If I was to invite a woman around on a date right now I'd attempt to cook her a speciality of the French town Nice called a Socco which is a distinctive pizza made by mixing chickpea flour, olive oil and water in a tray and cooking in an oven. I'd top it with sunflower oil fried peppers, mushrooms and leeks and squeeze the juice of a lemon over it. I'd serve it with a small glass of Cabernet Sauvignon red wine.

I've just got to figure out how to make chick pea flour which I'm sure is laughably easy.

I'd say it's worth a shot, though I've never been particularly fond of cooking. But in general, women are more likely to appreciate good food than, say, computer programming.

As a woman, I would say absolutely!! ! (Damnit, I'm married LOL) I would find it incredibly attractive that a guy knew how to cook and was adventurous about it. I think this is definitely something you should keep up with. Good for you.

It is certainly not a bad thing. Some of my friends go crazy over guys who can cook. A couple words of advice though, make sure you know what she is allergic to and what she dislikes BEFORE doing this or else it negates any headway you might make.

I am sure it would help, on average 10%-15% it isn't going to be a revolution though.

I heard once that there is nothing sexier to a woman than a guy that can cook.

From what I've heard, it's pretty true.

Need scientific evidence.

I love to cook. It is not an every day thing, because if I am going to do it I want to do something different.

One of the things I learnt from cooking for friends is intricate stuff is all very well but you also have to spend some time with them rather then being stuck in the kitchen all the time. I learnt the hard way. I used to try and execute Gary Rhodes dishes obsessively (Even before I had friends I would do stuff like that and would make up the plates for three or four even though it was only me eating it). Don't get me wrong the guy is a genius, but the attention to detail you need is astounding for most of the dishes. It is not that they are over complicated in presentation, but it is more what goes into making them. You are better off with quick Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsey type things, especially of the more carefree variety that can still wow.

The above obviously applies to dates too.

So I would suggest doing something that is not going to be too tricky, or you need to be able to get it right first time. You can do some preparation in advance. There are still plenty of really tasty and different dishes. One thing you can do is get them to help out. At first I found this hard, because I have a hard enough time figuring out what I’m supposed to be doing. However if you have dishes that simply require assembly it is not really a problem. You just have to choose the right ones.

Yes if he is cooking in just an apron and has a six pack! I am kidding.

You can buy chick pea flour from most super-markets, you don't have to make it from scratch - most chefs wouldn't.

Your meal plan sounds fab, I am sure your date will be well impressed! Girls do like a guy who can cook & especially if he puts in a lot of thought into the meal. Good luck! :)

Chick pea flour can be bought. It is not difficult to make, but you need a quality food mill if you want your equipment to survive. You could make it in little quantities with a coffee grinder.

I agree with Aspie Chav. Yeah, it will help. It helps to have things you are good at doing that you can share with others. It is a conversation started, a point of entry. But it will not carry the entire relationship. Not unless you put some serious aphrodisiacs in the food (disclaimer: don't do this)
