Are they identical in that respect..is there a hormonal difference too that comes with being an Aspie? What do you think?
I guess I've heard of Aspies being uninterested in sex or in a relationship at all. Does that mean they simply LACK this huge part of the experience of being human? So that's why I want to know, is it really LACKING or is it maybe a hormonal issue, something that can be treated?

There is a minority of people on the autistic spectrum who are asexual, or close to it. I must stress that this is a minority among people with AS - I for one seem to desire women as much as most other men my age. I don't know if there is a specific cause for this among this minority.

I'd love to be able to have sex all the time... the only thing I'm missing (and not likely to acquire anytime soon) is a partner...

I'm pretty sure that cases of social anxiety are higher with aspies than NT's, so that might explain the lack of interest to form relationships. As far as desire, I think that we are the same as NT's, except that there are many who are in denial, and claim that they don't wan't sex or a relationship(excluding those who are truly asexual). It's easier to claim that you don't want something, if you know that the chances are slim of ever getting it. But, deep down, I believe that desire is still there somewhere.

I have AS and I am not uninterested in sex. To me sex is the best thing in the world.

I'd say the drives are about as varied as the NT population... with more extreme cases... hyper sexuality and more asexuality.

How their sexuality manifests in their lives probably is quite different from NTs. Due to social, sensory, obsessiveness and whatnot.

But the basic drives seems similar.

Have nothing to go on, just intuitive observation...

Well for me, I have a lot of desire but it's the akward skills and anxieties that get in the way of it making it hard for me to be any relations that go to step 3.

I think I agree with Jawbrodt's post about us having higher anxieties about it than most NT's only because we are aware of our "flaws" so to speak. This only coming from my own experiences.

So yeah I have a high libido...I just live mostly in my head.
