Is there a lot of idealism in that forum or it's just me?

I often witness a lot of unbelievable idealism here.

ie. Oh , I don't care about looks at all but only about inner-side,
Oh, all I want is just a nice girl.

I mean, maybe alex should open a new sub-forum called "The Hall of Saints" so you idealists can chant there? Maybe then we normal mortals can be blessed by drinking the water which was used to wash your feet.

Nah, I 'll stop being a sarcastic jerk now and try to be little more serious:

I am not accusing anyone of being a liar or being dishonest.

Everyone wants to be seen as idealistic but none can be one.

It's easy to say idealistic things/preferences/opinions when you're sitting behind your PC screen but when we are talking about a real time situation, things will change! There's always a big gap between Idealism and reality.

it's true words are cheap, apparently even on a forum where people are much more likely to take things literally..
Some say there are no "true" Altruists.. i'm not sure

i want a girl who is hot as the core of the sun, smarter than me AND is willing to mother me around.
her final test will be wether or not she laughs heartily at cruel fetus-jokes

i have lots of more requirements tho, but i have to be blunt.

I think love is only the area where idealism is the most pronounced, but I think that stuff imbues pretty much every aspect of our lives. Maybe love is the most obvious because basically the whole idea of love is a fantasy. And when you lack the emotional awareness to understand what you want in the things that are consequently the most alien to you, seems like fantasy/ideals is a pretty logical way to go. Absolutely everyone is into it, it's natural to pick up on. Every song on the radio is either about fantasy ideals of love or callous breakup songs for when the ideals turn out to be illusions.

I agree with you here; there is always a big gap between idealism and reality. But that is by nature. Idealism (from the root idea) is not a real thing, but a concept. America is defined by the ideals of liberty and justice, for example. But is liberty assured in all situations? Is justice always fair, impartial, or even applied in all situations?

People simply state their ideals so that they have a target to shoot for. I leave you with the words of Michelangelo:

"The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it."

Hahah, YOU ARE ALL MY MINIONS. Talk about ideals. s**t.

Anyway, does a woman count? I'm not sure if what I say is taken as ideals, but I can tell you one thing, if they are, I'd like to be rid of them now. I mean, falling in love monogamously with one person for the rest of my life based solely on their personality is actually a huge pain in the ass. I see all kinds of good looking guys (and girls--it happens, quite often) I even know I have a chance with, and even some with personalities I like, and then...well, it just doesn't cut it. I've realized I'm primarily asexual, for one thing, which is a real piece of work.

So, some of us are just the way we are, and it can actually hurt, ideals aside. If I could get myself to be like many of the women I know, I'd probably be stoked. As it is, though, here I am, unable to find myself attracted to more than one regardless. f**k.

One can be both idealistic and realistic at the same time...

Ideally, I would want a woman who loves me for who I am, and not for some other bs outer trait like cognitive abilities, or any money that I may happen to have...

Realistically, I know that such is not going to happen, for I am unlovable...

Nevertheless, I still strive for that unreachable ideal goal... Call me insane if you have to, but just because I got the crappiest roll of the dice ever possible for a human being in the love arena doesn't mean I'm going to fold now...

At some point, people come to accept having a more selfish nature, but that doesn't mean that ideals aren't useful.

Oh, I'm just used to very male-centric posts, and I couldn't tell by your first post, since you used terms like "Oh, all I want is just a nice girl," so I thought I'd make sure as well as put up a disclaimer.
