Ever make a friend on CL? Perhaps you had a bad experience trying to make friends?

Please tell your experiences?

I've never tried using CL as a friend finder. However, I'd recommend you check out (free) socially focused networking sites if looking for new friends. I'll suggest facebook, myspace, or okcupid (my personal favorite) for their sole focus on facilitating social interaction.

Spam and sleaze and prostitution. You can't be sure even the prostitutes are who they say they are, 'erotic services'. I'd be suspicious of anyone who shows up on Craigslist, looking for 'friends'.

I just replied to an add on craigslist in the Strictly Platonic section. I'll let you know how it goes if she writes me back.

Apparently many of the 'erotic services' are scams - here's a humorous take on that [link]. Not that they'd be a good idea either way - there's something a bit off-putting about looking for erotic encounters on the Internet.

That being said, maybe it works. Places like Myspace and Facebook are NOT the places to go if you wish to make new friends, despite what a previous poster says. People usually use Facebook and Myspace to keep their existing real-life friendships going. That being said, it's not impossible to use Facebook as a friend-making tool, but you'll have no success unless you have quite a few friends already.
