Most of us have been innundated with the saying "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression."

I wish I was able to find out what people's 'first impression' of me was. I had no idea what I was doing wrong, so how could I make a good first impression? Freaking useless advice.

Don't you find it unfair how ppl judge each other by first impressions? Basically what they are doing is:

1) Denying the value of LIFE, as they assume that it is okay for a bad day to ruin the LIFE-long imrpession of a person

2) Denying the complexity of a person, since they assume a person is just like robot and robots don't have "bad days"

3) Denying the importance of what can possibly be a good thing, so that they "won't bother" double-check their first impressions

Indeed, and this is why I do NOT judge on first impressions.

If I were to make a first impression on you right now, I would have to say you are probably an open minded individual, due to the lack of judgement for others (:

Yeah I'm pretty open minded. mainly because people were so closeminded to me when I was growing up.

You can hire people to give you an expert opinion on that--a life coach or image consultant won't hold back in their critique of the first impression they get from you, if that's what you ask them for.

First impressions probably matter less for me than the average Joe.. I sometimes have the revelation that the person I'm meeting might not be having a great day so I'll give them another chance. Though I'm still human so I guess the first *few* impressions count, rather than the very first minute of meeting someone.

I'm friends with several people who didn't make a particularly good impression the first time (but wasn't too negative either) and I gave them another chance.. the rest is history.

First impressions means nothing in the long run, for my part. Sure, we all feel something the first time and I'm not going to deny that I'm any different in this regard.

It's the sum of it all that matters.
