Music is my stim. I've listened to a variety of songs, from a variety of groups, and artists and I just can't seem to stop the music. Maybe it's better that I don't go back to my job, if this is going to be a problem. I've almost lost 4 hours of sleep that would have made up my night, if I would have had to go into work, tomorrow.

I should just type a list of them and save it on my desktop for these posts... heh... I have quite a few... Recently I have been biting more than normal and whacking my knuckles on things. I do not much bite in public but I do smack my hands into things or smack things into my hands. I tap my mouth, face and ears... I will do that anywhere. I also bounce my calf muscles pretty much nonstop. I am a hand mover so I often do this thing where I kind of snap my fingers quietly, pinky to index finger on my thumb or reverse it without the snap sound because I catch my index finger with my thumb first... that is the one I remember my parents and teachers and people fussing about the most when I was a kid. People were always asking me why I did that. I would just look at them because I never noticed I was doing it. I am a bouncer and a rocker as well. I am also with CR... music is like that for me as well... one of these days my ear buds will likely become a permanent fixture in my head. I cannot function without music. I have a lot more, but time is a thing I need to be mindful of this morning...

My calf bouncing is by far the least noticeable. I can isolate that muscle and no one ever sees it. The rest of them people have called me on, so I guess they are obvious. I am not embarrassed or ashamed by any of them. I do not much care what people think of what I do.

As for relaxing... I find them all very soothing. It is also fair to mention that I do have ocd... so some of my stims are likely compulsions and I have no way to tell them apart... like I am a picker as well. I can zone out for hours staring into a mirror if I have anything to pick. I get annoyed when I have nothing to pick and will go after my husband who gets ingrown hairs. I think that one is a compulsion, but it mellows me out as much as the bouncing, tapping or finger fussing does. I find if I try to not do those things I become very tense and no good comes from that... plus it is fun.

Oh yeah, I'm a rocker, I snap my fingers and wiggle my toes as well. I use to flap when I was a child. I never thought about it until recently. I absolutely love music. The only thing I do around other people is stare off at nothing in particular. I stare off and retreat deep within myself all the time. I love it.

Rocking
Cleaning hands
rubbing silk ribbons
hitting myself - hard to explain this one

embarrassed of all of them. My school doesn't know I'm an Aspie, so if they see me doing any of them I get strange looks.

I don't have a stim. I have loads.
Can't be arsed to list them.
Nope I aren't ashamed or embarassed by them.
I do them because they're fun and just feel nice.
One of them isn't rocking so I'm a minority on here. and I don't flap. Mine tend to be tactile or smell related.

Then i doupt what i am doing is a stim cuz i have my own collection of plastic "things" thats the best way to describe them and i flick them non stop and can zone out completely while doing it i will tell ya a story

I was in my class and the teacher was talking and yapping on and i was sat in the corner playing with my pencil that is to say i was flicking it back and forth in front of my face and i was lost in my own imagination suddenly i remember looking up and seeing the whole class staring at me..... aparrantly the teacher had called my name out 10 seconds ago and i was still doing this i can tell you the look on her face was perceived as..... "is this kid okay"? and well i could have just died right there in my seat from shame and embarrasment  and so i did and now i am dead..... well not really but you get the point

its fun but now i only do it at home i tap my fingers at school and my feet and click my joints

I didn't think I had a stim, but I was showing my girlfriend the list of female asperger's traits list the other night to see if she thought any of them applied to me and when she got up to the one about stims I commented that I didn't have any. She then pointed out that I had been wriggling my toes the entire time. I simply hadn't noticed.

I'm now wondering what else I do that I don't notice I do.

Air drumming - I do it all the time  .

I have also been known to move my fingers when sat at a table as if I was playing the piano, all the while hearing the music in my head.

More recent ones I have are holding on to my ear and playing with it, and shifting from one foot to another when standing in a queue, especially if the person behind me is a bit too close.

LOL, I play the" air piano" all the time, especially while listening to classical music. It's great to know I am not the only one.

When I thought about stimulating with the use of my fingers, I at first thought I had none. Then I realized that was a lie.

Soft blankets, I have to have a soft blanket to sleep. I like to feel the softness of the blanket and that helps me go to sleep.

I used to use a mechanical pencil to excessively clean underneath my fingernails for stimulation. I was hitting two birds with one stone with this one though. I was also satisfying my undying need to clean my nails all the time too.

If I clean my ears more often than once a day, I end up using it as a stim, and my ears can get... pretty... unhappy and leaky. They really hate me then. I find a good ear cleaning stimulating.

I sometimes do rock back and forth, but this one is too obvious.

I click my teeth a lot.

I rub the texture of my thumb and index finger together constantly for another stim.

I would also rub the corner of my coat or play with the zipper on my coat if I was wearing one.

I think that my listening to one song over and over and over again until I've worn it out is a stim too, because I usually only listen to songs to get my brain going or get my body going. heh.

I have also played with my ear here recently. I didn't quite like this one though. It wasn't my favorite kind of stim.

And I just remember one from when I was young: I would chew on my own hair.
