No. I care more about real people, but can't say I relate well to either.

I find it easier to relate to them because while I don't do well with empathy IRL, in a fictional character you get to see inside the person's head. Sometimes it feels as if I'm starting to 'care' about them even though they are fictional. It isn't unusual for me to continue to think about a moving story from a movie or book after I'm done with it, to think of it almost like it were real. It's weird, I don't like it.

Certainly, because more things are spelled out for the reader, so my literature marks are above average. Care for? only a few.

Yes! I have always been this way. I'm much happier pretending to be friends with my favorite fictional characters than I am with having actual relationships. It's not really reciprocal, because in the end, I know I'm just talking to myself. But there's virtually no chance of being hurt, and it doesn't sap all of my energy like regular interactions do.

It depends if the character has a similar personality to me, and the character was different from most of the character in the story.

I used to relate to fictional characters, but I now relate to real people. I'm living in the real world, so I want to keep it real, now. I've found a good way to do that, back in September.

Generally yes, although I think it depends on the medium a bit. With books, totally - what makes them so worthwhile is that the reader's interpretation forms half the story, so you imagine the undescribed parts of the characters in whatever way makes sense to you. With movies I'm not so sure. Usually I feel no connection to the conventional main characters you always get, but that could just be down to poor or unoriginal storytelling, acting, or whatever.

Yes, I often care more about fictional characters than real people. I also get caught up in elaborate relationships (one sided, of course) with dead authors.
