I humbly suggest that twiter is a much better site than facebook for your average Aspie. Less emphasis on socialization and more factual in nature. No drama and you can really zero in on following your special interests.

I deactivated my fb account, I couldn't handle it. All the info flying around was frazzling my brain :? Face to face interractions are easier, I find.

I have the same problem. I've even had a few people defriend me on Facebook, and I used to talk to them...

*sigh* Oh well.

Talk to them in real life?

I won't add people I see regularly and have deleted some I haven't seen for years and can only picture 2-sided social awkwardness if I ever met up with them.

Most of my updates don't get any responses either. I'm surprised more people haven't deleted me.

High five to that. I deleted my facebook completely because it was only a window into my life for others, old friends who knew a different version of me and likely still believed I was that guy. I can't tell you how much better I felt afterwards not having to check it constantly and be let down when I was blown off.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem :(

I get ignored more here than on Facebook. 90% of my status messages receive at least 1 like.

I deactivated my Facebook a while ago. Nobody was responding to what I wrote or reaching out to me; it was all me to them and it was making me feel miserable. I even tried conforming to their interests and I still wasn't noticed. My sellout ex and I actually posted similar content at the same time once-he got 8 likes, I got 1. Pissed me off to no end. ;) Then again, he was popular and I'm not. So in the end, I decided to drop out of the popularity race and let the other kids worry about it. Facebook was no fun for me. Never was. I was simply not interacting with other people, and that's the purpose of Facebook.

Ironically, most of the same kids who ignored me on there now want me to come back (only after I brought it up). Probably couldn't stand the thought of their friend count decreasing.

You mean ... you are only learning this now?

Of course it's a popularity contest! Didn't you see the movie?

Facebook also figures out how much you interact with others. I am not sure what counts for interacting, is it you commenting others or messaging them.... But if FB thinks you have not interacted with someone, that someone is not seeing your status updates, and thus is unable to comment them.

Nobody except for my few core friends and a couple good acquaintances ever care about what I write on FB.
