we had a cozy little aspie meetup today, at evergreen community college, in an empty faculty lounge [across from the cafeteria] with a good picture-window view of students walking by outside. a great day for a meetup :D

if any of y'all in south puget sound want to attend, the next one will be the first saturday of july, at 1PM in the same place.

Good to know.

Ok, totally new to this. I'm even making spelling mistakes with nearly every key stroke. Nervous I guess. Gee, where do I start? What do I say? Umm..hello. I live in University Place, WA. My therapist suggested I try to meet/socialize with some others with Asperger's.

I gotta tell ya- when I read about A.S. 2months ago, I think I went slack jaw. It described my social life childhood thru most of adulthood. However, I'm still not all grown up yet. Ha!

Therapy was the 1st time I'd heard of A.S., and when I read about it I felt empowered and liberated. I had a frame work for understanding a lifetime of...well, things have been less than wonderful. To say the least!

Guess I wrote plenty here. It'd be nice to hear from you all.

Smiles,
Frank

Anchorage, Alaska. I think I'm a bit too far north and west.

welcome to WP OtaBenga :)
not too far NW if you wanna travel SE. otherwise, i believe Alaska deserves its own meet-up thread for ultra-northwest, due to it's distance. hawaii needs its own extreme southwest thread as well.

I was born and raised on one of the San Juan Islands in Northwestern WA. Now I go to college in Berkeley/Oakland area, go back home for summer. So I count for both WA and CA! What's up west coasters!

I just got back from the Seattle Aspergers picnic at Woodland park, saw both familiar and new faces and had a good time. We had perfect weather this year, and our spot was nice and quiet so no one had any sensory problems this time around. My Squarepegs group is holding our monthly meeting this Saturday, our comrades in Olympia are meeting in August and coordinating with our main site now, and the big Autism day event is happening next month out in Carnation, so at least for Western Washington Aspies there are quite a few opportunities this summer to meet other people on the spectrum.
