I know perfectly what you mean. I use it to communnicate with others auties I take care of (therapies). Amazing is that it's even not necessary to talk, it works with nonverbals (dysphatic/aphatic) as well. One of my best friend is Sarah - a girl age 12, mentally 3, not walking, not talking, she hears 10% on the left and 40% on the right, 17 diopter on the left eye and 14 diopter on the right, also she's epileptic. You could say she is well isolated from outer world, but it's - fortunatelly - not true, so (thanks to "that" you're talking about) I know how sweet soul is she
and she is same - everytime hugs me so much
. She everytime asks me to sing and when I start to sing, she does something similiar to singing (not vocalizing, it's inside of her), so we enjoy being
I learned that it works for a lot (maybe most) of auties, I call it "sharing". It can be even used to share thought, feelings and so on, not only pure existence. There is no space for lies or pretending, just pure straight sharing. I love to do it, it's only state I don't have to care about words, faces etc. Socializing? Phew!, this is far more social that to try to pretend that I understand somebody's verbal or nonverbal signals, which disabled NTs are trying to transmit because they are not able to express themselves directly. THIS is the real and direct communication.
