I know they sound completely unrelated, as Retalin is to stop me bouncing off walls yet my Aspergers is what makes my social skills strained, but bear with me :P

When I wasn't on Retalin, part of the immense distraction was that as soon as anyone talked to me, I would not be able to get back onto my work until the next day or longer sometimes. I think I have some sort of disorder that affected my comprehension of conversations, and they just seemed to override all previous thought process.

Anyway, now that I'm on Retalin, I'm concentrating a lot better which is great, but I've noticed that what remained of my social skills, which allowed me to appear normal for brief conversations, has now somewhat deserted me.

Also, the conversations no longer over-ride my thought process, so I can get back to what I was doing after one.

So I think that the ability to now concentrate on important stuff thanks to Retalin has left me a bit of a wierdo in conversation, whereas I was only a wierdo after people began to know me previously. I'm out of it the whole time, and my responses are really disjointed.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced that since going on Retalin, their social skills had deteriorated?

ritalin does make my social appearance a lot worse indeed, it makes me focus on my strongest thought at that time, which usually isn't the conversation, while without ritaling, i can use a sideprocess to work trough the interaction, should i wish so.
also, for some reason ritalin increases my periferal perception, both vision and hearing, at the cost of the primary; so i actually hear everything except what i try to focus on a lot better then the thing i actually want to notice (again, the conversation), and draining me a lot more at the same time, due to a heavy increase of input.

so indeed, ritalin kills what little social skill and energy i have quite efficiently, which is the reason i have stopped using it; the little better concentration and less bouncyness wasn't worth the trade-off in my experience

It's the opposite for me.

Not really sure why. I'm combined. Sometimes I can be hyper, take Ritalin and become still and focused and quiet.
On the inattentive days when I take it I'm more willing to talk and feel I have more bounce.

But for me it's good to take Ritalin when socialising because it makes me think more about what I'm about to say and it makes me say more anyway.
