I used to smoke it all day long. I started smoking weed when I was 13 or so. I grew up in a Stoner suburb of Seattle where people I knew grew it.

I got into a lot of trouble smoking weed. I really think I leaned on it as a crutch to help me cope with my situation growing up. The culture of Metal and the NWOBHM was going down when I was in middle school, so naturally smoking dope went along with it.

I still listen to Metal and Punk but I usually do that when I'm Mtn Biking or Snowboarding. I don't get loaded anymore. I got to a place where sitting on the coach all day long watching tv got really old. Like it was ground hogs day every day for years on end.

That stuff made me lazy, hammered my lungs, and made me sell myself short.

I'm glad I didn't start smoking until I was an adult--I think it would've defused a lot of the dissatisfaction I had with my hometown, and I might never have gotten out to have all the adventures that I have!

That said, I am a big proponent of weed nowadays. I don't use it very often, but I am very much in support of it, especially medicinally.

I made an honest attempt at getting high about 2 years ago. It didn't work. I found out that I'm severely allergic to some chemical in pot. I got a heart-attack and landed in the hospital. What sucked the most, I didn't even get high at all.

I didn't think it would hurt to be around weed-smoking, though. I was wrong. I got some heart irregularities when I was in the same room as somebody that was making a joint about 6 months ago, and landed at the hospital again.

I have a friend who is allergic to it as well, one of his lungs collapsed the first time he tried it.

He also has mild reactions to anything containing hemp--he figured it out when he got a rash from using Dr. Bronner's soap. maybe something for you to check into or keep in mind, if you haven't already...

Hmmm, hadn't really thought about a possible connection between those two.

My skin is very sensitive for certain fabrics. I used to get very bad rashes from everything containing hemp when I was little. It's not as bad any more, but it still irritates my skin. Also, wool irritates my skin too. I can wear it wool clothing, but only if I have something thick underneath it. Like, I cannot wear an Icelandic wool sweater/jumper without having something underneath that makes sure that none of the wool fibers get past the fabric. Otherwise it irritates my skin extensively.

It helps me notice social cues more. I tried that spice crap one time, and the enhanced intuitive element was missing.

I used to smoke cigarettes if that counts. I switched to Volcano Inferno. It is basically an e-cigarette with a whole lot of kick. I like it. And I like the price even better, about $10 a month as opposed to say four cartons of cigarettes. No smell, no yellow teeth, and I can smoke anywhere. Best part no ashes in the car.

Yes, I have tried many e-cigarettes and done the research. Just Google Volcano. They are from Hawaii but an order only takes a few days really. They beat all the others hands down. They also have a video forum and give-a-way lots of free stuff.

I consume cannabis on a weekly basis. I used to smoke every day last semester (as well as during breaks), however I found it to be too interfering with my school work, so now I mostly smoke on the weekends, and a vaporize small amounts while I am studying. I have found that vaporizing the cannabis alters the high quite a bit (it's more clearheaded, unfoggy). It's excellent for when I need to try to understand/visualize a chemistry topic on a molecular level or when I am stuck and need to look at a math problem differently. Just make sure not to vape a lot (therapeutic, not recreational dose) because tetrahydrocannabinol is known to inhibit (short-term) glutamate (which involves learning) levels.

vaporizing definitely doesn't make my head as foggy, but then it doesn't have such strong physical effects for me (painkilling, that is) either. i'm starting to think that it might just not be such a strong high :)

I plan on switching to a portable butane vaporizer, I like the idea of preserving my lungs. Smoking has too much je nais se quoi and too many carcinogens, although it doesn't even verge on the destructive effects of tobacco. Two hours of hookah take more out of me than a straight week of butane hash. It takes quite a lot of weed to do any serious damage, and in my experience aspies are accustomed to dealing with more encumbrance than ordinary people. Our brains already produce elevated lysergamides, what's a little Tetrahydrocannibinol?

I use cannabis. It's not a social thing for me.

It was social in high school (70's) but then I had kids and didn't use it. I suffered with severe chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia for over 20 years and then got diagnosed with epilepsy. I couldn't tolerate any of the anti-seizure drugs so my 4th neurologist suggested I try cannabis. I'm in California; it's readily available and epilepsy is on the list.

The migraines from the seizures went away; as did the backaches, knee troubles, hip problems and almost all of the shoulder pain. I found that if I use certain strains, I'm more functional than I've been in years. I grew my own for awhile but it's a bit of a hassle for someone like me so I just go to one of the dispensaries in the area.

I don't care much for the smell of the smoke and prefer to infuse oils and incorporate them in my diet. The calming effects last longer without so much "high" but I do enjoy a bit of smoke on occasion.

As for how it affects my new-found discovery of AS, I haven't given that a lot of thought. I'm mostly just amazed has how much my capacity for living has expanded with the absence of all that pain. Life is grand.

I smoke socially, but mostly it keeps my mind from bouncing straight out of my head during coding sessions. As much as it smooths things over with my extended social circles, it does with my subconscious. Lately I've been smoking more on my own and less with my friends. No reason to stop working and get out when I can date Mary Jane.
