Anyone here from that area, who can perhaps give me some insight into places to visit in order to make friends? My husband and I move, the 10th of October and I am struggling with the anxiety and sadness of leaving behind familiar places and settings.

Sure! Try HMAC or Appalachian Brewery for loud fun and lotsa people.

For more quite fun, the Midtown Scholar Bookstore and the Midtown Theater/Cafe are very nice, my personal favorites. Good places to check a local cork billboard, read a newspaper or two and get acclimated.

If you like going to church a good one is Unitarian Universalist Church of Harrisburg -- good diverse crowd, social and very welcoming. My wife and I made a lot of pals there.

There is a big strip in H-Burg rooted on 2nd Street for the trendy bars, eateries and social clubs.

With Fall coming, try a nice ride in the country to see the leaves changing and do some antique-ing! Stop by Hershey for candy!

Good luck with moving and welcome to the 'Burg!! !
