I'm Rachel, 27 yrs old, married with two babies (boys). Aspergers runs in my family, both grandpas had it and my brother has it bad. We've only just started thinking I might have it (waiting for official diagnosis), so I'm really preoccupied with researching it and trying to figure out why I am how I am. I'm curious about people and love to talk via text (I have trouble actually speaking, like my brain and mouth don't communicate properly? Cannot do phones). I overthink things, analyze everything.
I love fantasy like Lord of the Rings, used to be a computer gamer (until kids), have an AA in graphic design and a BA in Visual Communications 3D animation, love art, animals, history, music, reading, proper good movies, learning and researching and finding out everything about everything. I can ramble on, a lot. Currently don't have many friends (certainly none to hang out with in RL except my husband and his friends) and thought I'd try this out.

Hey,

My name is Rob, I'm 24 (almost 25), I have a daughter and live in Ontario. I'm just looking for someone to chat with who has had a similar "rocky" past and to bounce ideas off of to become more social? I'm starting an engineering degree in a week and am super nervous about having to interact with new people face to face. I'm a hermit I guess?

Looking for other people who consider themselves intelligent, inquiring, rational, logical, ambitious. If you've always wanted to know someone whom you can ask all of your countless questions, well, so have I :D

I'm particularly interested in self-improvement and stuff that helps our everyday functioning, such as social skills. I am so convinced in my ambition to be better at social functioning than most people (including most NTs, even psychologists) that I would be most disappointed if I look 10 years into the future and find out that I didn't manage to achieve this.

So don't hesitate to drop me a PM if you share my interests, I'm a very warm person and will always reply :)

Hi all!

I am a children's librarian. I have moved twice in the last two years. I LOVE reading. I just got diagnosed in the last six months, so felt totally alone til I joined wrongplanet. I live in a large rural area that has few people. So there are few areas to geek out in except my own apartment. I absolutely love board books, you know, the kind that babies chew on.

I feel totally lucky in my choice of jobs. And in the community I have joined. People are laid back, and they actually seem to care. I can't go to the grocery store sometimes without being identified. Or to the soccer pitch. Sometimes, I miss my anonymity.

I love pets. As soon as I can get permitted, I would like to buy a budgie. I trained my last one to talk. He lives with my parents. I miss him! And my friends -- I moved 1000 miles with my first move, and over 100 miles with my second one, so seeing them is not all that easy.

I love soccer and am absolutely awful at it, though I am on two teams. Ha ha ha!

I cannot stand reorganizing things, so if someone can give some great tips as to things to think about when reorganizing your kitchen cupboards, let me know.

My main issues seem to be conversations. I have been here for six months, yet have no friends in person.

Hello from Arlington, TX :)

I'm 24 years old, male and would like to really meet other Aspies. I'm big into retro-gaming, computers, old-school anime and tokusatsu (Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Etc). I'd also like to start studying Japanese this year. And get back to drawing too. I've never had any real friends, and am not too social, but hopefully being able to meet someone can help me change that!

I'm Rachel. I'm 21 and a senior in college. I'm studying archaeology and I LOVE it--it's my passion and greatest love :) I particularly love ancient Rome and the civilizations of the ancient Near East. I plan to get my PhD and teach/run research projects. Beyond that, I like to read and write fantasy, take pictures, travel, and go hiking. I also love animals, particularly cats and dogs, but basically all animals.

hello , Im no giving out my name because it could be found on a google search but. Im 24 just about to graduate from the university of Iowa
Usually don't like to think about my condition on a day to day basis. I am from Iowa. I found that my social skills and negative habtis are getting better and better over time. Really it is a learning experience for me which is nice but I still have trouble gauging people's intent. I am pretty good at figuring out a person's temperament or what they sometimes intend or thinking by deconstructing their behavior, looking at their body language or tone of voice usually but most of the time Im always really worried whether people are being nice to because they like me as a friend or they are just being polite or patronizing or just going along with it because they know I have aspergers or im just weird.

Hi!

I'm Ian, I am 20 years old (soon to be 21), and I live in Northern California. I am currently a student majoring in music performance. I play trombone and other brass instruments semi-professionally (freelancing) around town. I play classical, jazz, Latin, broadway, and most other styles of music. My favorite styles of music to listen to are classical, jazz, alternative, indie, and folk. I like to read many types of books, and occasionally enjoy writing. I love being outside in nature, and enjoy hiking and driving to unknown destinations. I would describe myself as very spiritual, but not religious. I don't watch much tv (I used to watch The History Channel, but it's since turned into the 'Pawn Stars' channel), but when I do, it's usually PBS (Huell Howser, anybody?) or something educational. I signed up for this site with the main intention of finding friends. I had a lot before, but they all go to school pretty far away now. I've been told that I am a good listener, and that I give good advice (even if I don't follow it myself all the time haha). I always believe that the world has great things to offer, even if it is difficult to understand most of the time. I really do hope for the best in people, even when they make me sad and lonely. But I'm rambling haha. I'd really like to chat! I can't wait to hear from any of you!

My name is Nathan, I am 19 years old and I live in Sydney, Australia.

I live with my mum, step-dad, real brother and my half-sister. I have currently joined this forum and have recently joined a dating site designed specifically for Aspies. I am currently at an employment agency finding a job on the railways. Therefore I'll be working on the railways some time soon!! ! I think I'll start off working at a train station and then I could possibly work my way up from there, but keeping my options open. Ultimately I would like to become a train driver, in my later life.

I have an interest in film making as I have written a screenplay myself and like to watch movies, either with friends or by myself, and watch TV. I am awfully good at soccer even though I don't watch it on a seasonal basis and I am part of a team. I like playing cricket and would like to join a cricket team next season. I also like to play the guitar and ukulele and learn new songs off either books or YouTube, as well as listening to music . Genres include: rap, rock, dance, old school, and in between.....

I am a shy person who needs to come out of his shell and talk more and I can also be funny at times, it's in my nature!! ! I do have friends but would like to make a few more friends and would like to do things socially. So if there is anybody in Sydney or even other parts of Australia or even the world!! !

I can't wait to chat to people!! ! Feel free to PM me!! !

Hello everyone,

Well, first off, I want to introduce a little about myself. I'm a "different" girl, 22 years old, from Southeast Asia. The reason I came here at first was because I'was interested in making friends and self-diagnosed myself with mild Asperger. I'm kind of a very isolated person. But today I did examine myself and realized I'm a NT (inside NT but outside Aspie I think xD). My social skill's problems are only from my rare personality type and because of my own philosophy of life. Anyway, I do have social problems and maybe some kind of psychological stresses which I think maybe I'm capable of solving it myself. :-/

Has anyone watched "Mary and Max"? I think I want the same kind of friendship in the movie. So now I'm coming here hoping that I will find a suitable friend for me. I would love to keep a long, even life-long correspondence with someone.
Here are some details about me you should know:
- I'm an introvert and a very sympathetic and understanding person.
- I'm allergic to lies, even the smallest one. Usually people upset me because of small or big lies.
- I like peaceful place and music, dislike crowds and noise or loud music, for example, rap or metal rock :P
- I love Art, (like painting, architect, music, film & animation, Literature etc) and Social sciences, (esp. philosophy and psychology.)
- I am not really an Atheist but also don't follow any religion, though I like Buddhism. I mean my opinions and feelings can swing at times.

I myself very appreciate Aspies people for their honesty, straightforwardness and thoughtfulness. (well, which I assume like Max, the animation is little funny though.) and because I believe we all know how to really appreciate our friendship or any relationship we have. They may be rare but they are real ones.

Hope to here from my would-be Max!

Hi.

My name is David, I'm 45 years old and I live in Surrey in England, about 25 miles south-east of London.

I've had issues most of my life with anxiety and depression and while attempting to resolve these issues I came across a website for sufferers of Social Anxiety. AS was mentioned frequently on this site so I looked into it and I was astonished as to how closely Aspies' accounts of their lives mirrored my own experiences. I plucked up the courage to discuss AS with my GP just before Christmas and I have been referred to the Maudsley Hospital for an assessment. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

If I have AS then I have it only mildly. I think I'm quite a friendly person but somehow I don't have many friends. I'm hoping to rectify this soon.

I do have a girlfriend. We've been together for nearly five years. She may have AS too - in any case she is prepared to put up with my little eccentricities. :)

My main interests are Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror in books, on film, in comics, on TV and so on. I play video games on PC and console. I'm also interested in Science and the Arts. I love railways, both in real life and in model form. I love music too - I mainly like the post-punk, indie and alternative stuff I grew up with but I also love a lot of classic 60s stuff and I'm getting more interested in classical music.

I've got a good sense of humour- I like surreal stuff like Monty Python and The Goons. I always enjoyed drawing as a child and I'm trying to develop this talent- both on paper and digitally using my Wacom tablet. I'm not into watching or playing sport at all.

I love all animals but cats are the best :)

I took my degree in Geology at Imperial College London and I now work in IT for the NHS.

It would be really great to meet some people nearby but I'd also love to hear from anybody anywhere with similar interests or experiences.

Best wishes

David

Hi, I'm Steve. I'm 32-years old, and have been diagnosed with AS. I'm also an Iraq war veteran. I am still trying to find out who I really am in this crazy world. How about you?

Hi I'm 21 in college and I was wondering, if anyone wanted to join in some friendly banter, here is a link below for a google hangout (similar to skype conversation) for meetings I'd like to have every week or so. I thought it'd be a good way for people to practice social skills by taking a progressive step forward while just having fun conversing with others with similar interests.
Topics will be decided when we get enough people (maybe 3-5) to commit to a first meeting. Information in the thread below:

Hello! 41-year-old aspie male based near London seeks new friends, ideally from UK. Diagnosed about four years ago. Quite isolated and sensitive, but can pretend to be sociable when I really put my mind to it :) GSOH when not stressed.
Likes: indie music, arthouse cinema, psychology, working out, computers, TV comedy (Stewart Lee, Armando Iannucci).
