Is any Saturday good for you in May? Do you have a preference?
Also what would you most like to do?
Thanks

I'm pretty open for any Saturday really, I work mon-fri so weekends are always free

I like museums, cafes, walking somewhere - all good

OK. Would you be OK with having a meetup in Cafe in the Crypt underneath St Martin's In the Fields Church?
We could meet by the National Portrait Gallery at midday on a Saturday and then head off to the cafe.

Hi I'm interested, actually I was just going to post such a thread. Thanks for saving me the time :)

From experience with meetups (I used to attend meetup with WP people, and other communities but have been out of the loop for a long time), I found that those that are activity based, tend to work better.

My suggestion is a play. The reason is, the even if it is not good, it is a talking point, it breaks the ice. Even if you don't really go to plays, it they can be more fun then people think (especially comic).

I know it usually involves money but so does going on a pub crawl. I'm not suggesting something really expensive, there the lesser know, lesser billed ones, even some amateur ones that are cheaper). it isn't necessarily more expensive than alternatives.

Actually friends I met from meets many years ago, we we met doing thing like gig or radio show recording meets. One is into Amateur dramatics, also writing for film and theater.

Thanks for your input.. I quite like the idea for the benefits you mention. Maybe we could combine the days events so have sometime in a cafe and then to go a theatre. That way it is optional and people can come for one or the other if they like? Does anyone else have thoughts on the theatre idea?

Great. There is a booth in Leicester Sq. where you can buy theatre tickets on the day of the showing (apparently discounted according to this website: http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/ ... kets/tkts/) And there is plenty of places to eat around should people want to have a meal.

Definitely a possibility. I haven't got experience with these on the day box offices (only ad-hock bought standup comedy there), I thought they focused towards on the day 'shows'/musicals like Spamalot, an We Will Rock You, etc, if it is discounted from something already dear, I'd be less inclined.

I have also had some luck online getting cheaper tickets, like Harold Pinter Theater, and others. We could take a look a TimeOut if anything takes our fancy. If there is availability, and and handful of interest, we could pick a row, and people could individually buy their ticket. It doesn't matter too much if there is separation between some of us.

Regarding a meal, I'm GFCF but there is Japanese and Indian restaurants I know that have options.

The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time is on through May: http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/ ... ight-time/

You can see most West End plays on in May here: http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/ ... ow_date_dt:[1000-01-01T00:00:00Z%20TO%202013-05-31T23:59:59.999Z]&fq=closing_night_dt:[2013-05-01T00:00:00Z%20TO%202099-12-31T23:59:59.999Z]

Hi,

The London meet up in May appears to be shaping up.
I think we should wait for at least a week before we confirm a date. This will give time for anyone else who expresses interest in the meet up to suggest their preferred dates (and for those who are already interested in going to confirm their availability). At the moment, there seems to be a slight majority in preference of the latter two Saturdays in May.
My proposal is that we meet in Trafalgar Sq, outside the National Portrait Gallery at 1 p.m, heading to the Cafe underneath St Martins in the Fields (situated on Trafalgar Sq) at 1.30 p.m.
0_equals_true has proposed that following on from the cafe meet up, those who wanted to could go and see a play in the West End.
If you'd like to come to the meet up, please say so on this thread or pm me.

Many thanks

I am interested in coming along to this. May 11th & 18th are fine with me (can't make 25th). I'm not keen on the idea of a pub crawl but all other activities suggested are cool.
