Well. Not very surprised by this.

What does the "inch by inch" thing mean in terms of social interactions? The wanting of friends, etc. isn't going to help when my mind goes blank when trying to think of something to say. And when I do think of something, it really won't help when I can't get the words past the safety of my mind.

In Finnish there's a nice word for one symptom of social phobia, 'kahvikuppineuroosi' (something like 'coffee cup neurosis' in English). Maybe you can guess what it means. I have that symptom. That's why I'm not very nice and easy company to have lunch with.

79%. I'm not surprised. I don't know what I could do about it, though, especially considering I'm not entirely sure it counts as a "phobia" or irrational fear rather than a perfectly rational response to something that is actually dangerous for me.

Your level of social phobia is 24%

No symptoms. Your answers show a completely normal situation. You show no worrying symptoms associated with social phobia, therefore you have nothing to worry about.

I think it is a bit more than "slight" though. It's worse the longer I've been in my hermit mode.

Social phobia test result

Your level of social phobia is 68%

Slight phobia. Your answers suggest the presence of some symptoms generally associated with social phobia. You happen to feel unease and worried when you have to be among other people, even when there's no reason to feel this way. We advise you to work on your fear of social contexts and not to let it subdue you, because the risk is to start avoiding social situations and worsen the symptoms. I find that my acute level of phobia goes up and down depending on how often I socialize. The thing that's really debilitating isn't the acute fear though. It's the low level tension I always feel that seems to linger long after doing anything. I've noticed for all my life, after watching an emotionally intense movie I feel shaky and zoned out for a long time afterwards. It's not just socializing. It's any emotion gets me jittery and feeling like I have to recover.

77% but sometimes due to ASD I become completely unaware of my surroundings and therefore feel no anxiety whatsoever (as I forget others are around). Which 'mode' I'm in decides whether there's any anxiety (but when I do have it, it's severe).

Your level of social phobia is 35%

Few symptoms. Your answers to our test show the presence of some symptoms generally associated with social phobia. Sometimes you happen to feel unease in social contexts. Anyway your slight symptoms are not strong enough to justify a social phobia and there's no need to worry about them.

My social phobia has significantly decreased since I started working. I was terrified at first at work with taking phone calls and talking to costumers but that has pretty much disappeared over the years.

Hey! :)

Social phobia test result:
Your level of social phobia is 89%

Strong phobia. Your answers to our test suggest the presence of a strong social phobia. It looks like you are frequently subdued by anxiety and worry when you think of yourself among other people. In this way you happen to avoid social situations with the purpose of keeping bad sensations away from you. By avoiding others you won't defeat your discomfort; our advice is to face the problem inch by inch, concentrating on anxiety-causing elements and trying to see their positive implications (for example: new friends, more respect by others, better self-confidence etc.).
