"You're intelligent so use it, don't act stupid."

And the one that really gets me: "Stop being so selfish and grow up". Sends me into automatic meltdown especially if it's my mum/brother then they laugh at me which makes it worse. Keep trying not to react but it's really hard!

in the army, I was addressed as "PFC bruce" [instead of my last name as is military custom]. they also called me "lightweight." that was not a nice place and time.

"You look like you're in a hurry."
"WOW! How do you KNOW these things?"
"It's pronounced..."
"You're lisping."
"You have an accent... where do you come from?"
"Not so loud! / Lower your voice to a mild shout."
"Have a sense of humour about these things."
"Relax."
"Smile, you're on television."
"How's your Dad doing?"
"I was just kidding"
"Don't have a fit."
"I can't understand a word you're saying."
"You should see a psychiatrist"
"Uh-uh-uh... no-no-no."
and the very worst:
"You're going to get cancer"

My husband and I used to go to this vegetable stand in town, where the proprietor for some weird reason kept calling me by my childhood nick name. It really annoyed the hell out of me, because I no longer use that name.

Anything that generalises my Asian heritage or maturity tends to really get to me.

Im also put off by people who automatically think I am stupid based on a comment I didn't put a lot of thought into
