I am from South Asia but I live in Europe now. I agree that environment plays a large part.

Cons:
In Asia, there are a lot subtle behavioral differences expected with people of different age groups and a lot of unwritten rules. Also I have felt a lot of passive aggression. People expect you to do stuff their way else its the highway.
In Europe, since I am too passive, I end up being ignored sometimes.

Pros:
I like the structure in Europe and find it easier to live here. Also it is easier to hide because people do not smother me by trying to include me all the time whereas back home people who pull me in and I do end up having fun sometimes.
In Europe, I can do my work with my method with my own thought processes. The environment is very good to work individually.

Indian society is very dominating and especially conservative against women
Women are supposed to be dominated by male
they have no say in anything.
I feel i became a recluse and aspie due to my upbringing
I am not accepted in indian society
they avoid me totally and i feel my condition would be far worst abroad also.

Korean (biologically, at least), although I do consider myself Japanese inside. As namaste said, like in Indian society, the Korean society is rather conservative, which has resulted in what feels like a 'Cold War' between me and my parents.

Old thread, but thought I'd throw in my lot here. I'm an old Chinese Aspie. Born and raised in Toronto.

Been wondering if there were other Asian Aspies out there. I suspect most are invisible.

I'm Asian, but sometimes I feel more Western as I don't always align well with the culture where I am. For example, I feel people work too hard and don't seem to be 'enjoying' life. As a university student, people constantly try to tell me my study is very important, as if that's the only thing I should ever be doing (even at the expense of looking for jobs - which is silly, surely the ultimate goal at the end of university is to find a job, not merely to do well academically?). Due to academic pressures I haven't been able to socialise as much during university as I would have liked to (yes, study is important but friends in other countries have plenty of time for other activities), which has a negative effect on my social skills.

You also see people working insane hours and have a very rushed pace of life - people aren't always considerate to each other on the street as a result.

That's very interesting because even though I look Asian, I'm more Western than Asian, except in that part. I love working and I hate wasting time by not doing anything, which sometimes I feel socializing is a waste of time when it's too long. I personally don't like socializing too much because I feel like I could be doing something productive than chitchatting about nothing with people.

I'm part Asian (White/Chinese) I live in an area where the population is mostly Asian so I'm used to Chinese culture around me.

I'm happa and I'm married to a happa.

And the happa is Chinese.

Several of my wife's friends warned her about marrying me and even graver warning were given about having kids (thankfully we did not).

On the one hand (and mind you, all of this was before I knew I was ASD) I appreciate the way they were able to tell. On the other hand, many here on this thread must have heard something along the lines of the tall nail gets pounded down growing up. Being different is bad enough in Western society ... in the Chinese enclave it's sheer hell.
