I surprised a friend after her shift at work the other day, and we talked in the parking lot for about an hour. Now I should say right now that my small talk is horrible... But I noticed that she checked her phone 3 or 4 times during this time. Should I think nothing of it since she just got off work, or was this a sign she was bored with me? She did apologize on the 2nd or 3rd time.

I would take it that this person is not someone whom I should again surprise with my presence and conversation.

A text, email, or phone call with an invitation to coffee might work better. If that invitation is declined, I would then know even better where I stood with them.

She seems extremely complicated, especially for someone as socially inept as me. She is almost always fast and positive to text me, but also reschedules/declines every invitation. (Around 12 over the 4 years I've known her)

Anyways, it could just be that she's 19 and just needs a reality check or to grow up a little more or something. I think she's worth waiting for even if we just remain friends.

Sounds like she's just one of those girls that doesn't mind texting a million people but doesn't actually want to hang out with. I wouldn't get your hopes up and wait for her, OP.

There are tons and tons of women who will talk to you via text or facebook but then when you try to hang out with them are not interested, because really they have no intention of ever hanging out with you, they just like talking to people via text/facebook. It's weird, but there's plenty of those types.

I wouldn't go up and talk to her unless she came and approached me first, after that.

Checking your phone more than once when it's just a text message/e-mail or facebook alert ping is just rude, unnecessary and stupid. It's also extremely annoying. I don't like people like that soo..

Talking for 1 hour is a long time for some people, after 10 minutes I'm inclined to check my phone :?
