Here in New York City, in addition to the already-existing publicly-advertised adult autistic support groups that meet in Manhattan (including the peer-led Aspies for Social Success and the professional-led AANE-NY) there's also a smaller, newer, more private peer-led group, currently led by me (but hopefully will eventually rotate leadership), that meets in Queens.
(There are also some other groups besides the ones I mentioned above, for which I don't have details handy.)
The Queens group is not just a support group, but also, for at least a part of each meeting, has a focus on learning what I call autistic-friendly social skills, e.g. assertiveness (without being aggressive), active listening, giving and receiving constructive criticism, and conflict resolution, using tutorials and role-playing exercises found on the web. (Currently we are using this tutorial and these role-playing exercises on assertiveness.)
PM me if you are interested.
