Attempting to make a friend... on the last day of school
I've always had trouble making friends, especially in school. By the time I start feeling somewhat okay with talking to a classmate, the semester is over and I don't see them anymore. Tomorrow's the very last day of my two year college program and I haven't made a single friend.
However, I did run into a classmate when walking past a school event and we had a nice chat. I would have stayed longer if I wasn't on my way to another class. The class that he and I shared is already over, and although we never really spoke to each other in class (he seems kinda quiet) and didn't sit near each other, he always says hi to me in the hallways. He seems nice enough, so I'm considering sending him an email to see if we could be friends on Facebook or something and see what goes from there. Even if nothing happens, I'd like to be able to say that I tried making a friend for once.
But how do I go about doing this, if I do it at all? I'm worried about being awkward. After all, it's not like we really know each other. I felt awkward enough doing something similar a few years ago with a classmate I frequently talked to, and that was in person. Also, since he's a guy and I'm a girl, I don't want to give a wrong impression.
Any advice on what I could say, if anything? Thanks.
