Friendship Board - Age 19 Onwards
Hey WP Aspies/Autistics:
My name is Scott. I am from the Chattanooga, TN area of Northwest Georgia in the USA. I am currently on leave in my position as a Community Resource Specialist (helping people find resources in their communities) from health concerns (none related to autism). My interests/hobbies are in the area of the following: adult autism advocacy, networking, collaborations with other nonprofit organizations, baking/cooking, smooth jazz music, accounting, the outdoors, social science research, compiling survey results and crunching numbers, USA/UK politics, and more. I am married, 50, have three grandkids (Quinn - 14, Melody - 11, Harmony - 7) and a stepson (Hunter - 19) who live with my wife and me.
I was diagnosed in 2007 at the age of 40 on the autism spectrum but never received written documentation of my written diagnosis. In 2010, I received written documentation. I founded the GCA Centre for Adult Autism (which was then an adults-only support group for autistics in Chattanooga, TN) in late 2010. Since then, GCA has grown to include support groups in North Georgia, an adult autism conference, and other things. My autism journey has been a most interesting one, as well as the health-related journey I am on currently.
Although I am helping autistic adults and others a lot, I am hoping for the opportunity to penpal with other autistics and non-autistics (e.g. parents of autistic adults, etc.). Geography is not a concern when it comes to email (although I had a penpal some 25 years ago that I used to penpal with who lived in Malaysia via paper and pen - yes, snail mail penpals existed back then). I am happy to learn about what others do (even if it something different than what I do or what my interests are). I am happily married to an incredible woman, so I am looking for new friends only from different places to write who I can encourage and get to know.
If I sound like someone you would like to write, let me know and bring it on! Thanks, Scott

I'm interested in ancient history, deep sea life/fish, knitting, weightlifting, watching anime and alternative/metal music. I love animals, especially cats (I have two) and enter competitions as a hobby. I live with my partner, also an aspie, who I've been with for about eight years.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone interested in being friends.
Hi BearBee:
Good afternoon from the States. First of all, congratulations to you and your partner for being as long as you have together. In my country, it is very common for people to divorce after a couple of years after being married. Glad that you and your partner have something that works for both of you. My friendship ad is below yours on the same page in WrongPlanet. Like yourself, I am looking for friends only. I am very happy in my marriage with my spouse/wife, April, who is not on the autism spectrum like me (I am classic autism and did not speak until 4). She is AD/HD and I just happened to marry into a family full of AD/HDers. If you know anything about AD/HD, then you understand the challenges that come along with individuals who suffer in living with AD/HD. The relationship dynamic with April and me is a most interesting one when you consider someone living on the autism spectrum (me) and someone living with AD/HD (April). April and I have her three youngest grandchildren (Quinn - 14, Melody - 11, and Harmony - 7) living with us. Does make for a full house, especially first thing in the mornings and at night before they go to sleep. Jokingly, I tell people that is far easier for me to work on my relationship with April than it is to deal with the three grandkids plus Hunter (below) at the same time.
What is it like being a partner to someone who also is an Aspie? What is communication like, just out of curiosity? April is the partner who has the high emotional quotient and such. I have a low emotional quotient. When I am in an autism-related environment speaking before a large crowd, I am fine and "in my own skin". Put me outside an autism-related environment, and I am far removed from being the same person. What do you like most about ancient history and what kind of ancient history? I suppose that being from South Wales that your interest might be on ancient history in Brittania, ancient Rome and Greece, the Seven Wonders of the World, etc. Any connection about ancient history and deep sea life (maybe Greek mythology - Poseidon, Neptune, etc?).
You got two cats? Awesome! I have two kittens, Autumn and Caroline (who my 19 year old stepson decided to give the male kitten a female name), who each think that when breakfast time comes that they are entitled a few pieces of fried eggs I make that morning. I have never seen any cats or kittens in my life who politely (and I do mean politely) sit at me and look in anticipation of getting eggs for breakfast. I am not saying that I spoil them or anything like that. But I have never seen the look on a cat or kitten before. It has been said that cats, dogs, whoever rule a person's house. But I have reminded the kittens who the boss is in this house - me. They want to be nice to me, then they get eggs. They want to be grumpy at me and make faces and all that, then they can wait until the next day. Simple as that.
Have you always lived in South Wales? I have lived in the States my entire life but went to Canada once (which was nice). Do you follow Swansea City in the English Premier League by any chance? I know that Swansea City in South Wales.
I will stop here for now. Thank you for reading this and for your consideration in possibly writing with me. My handle is GCAspies. Thanks, Scott

Hi, I'm Chelsea. I am female, 27, and living in the south eastern United States. I work as a behavior analyst. I like to read and play volleyball. I love The Big Bang Theory and now Young Sheldon. I would love to know other people who also have Aspergers/Autism and understand what it is like.
Hello! My name is Chris, I'm 31, and I live near Ann Arbor/Jackson Michigan. It would be awesome to find some local friends - but anywhere in the Midwest would be fine. I like the idea that we could actually meet (without buying plane tickets).
I'm very much a "science nerd" - I studied physics in college, I work with lasers for a living, and now I'm thinking of going back to college for Chemistry. I'm also a nature fiend and can often be found hiking or mountain biking. My big aspie obsession though has always been fireworks. I frequently travel to attend firework conventions.
I just want to find friends I can better identify with, and what better place than WP?! I don't think I've ever had close friends on the spectrum, though my past interactions with fellow aspies have been very positive, to the point that I really regret not furthering the relationships when I had the chance. Sometimes it's really felt like we were on the same wavelength.
Things I like to do with friends range from low key game nights to camping trips or road trips. I'm pretty open minded but sometimes I don't have to patience or focus to learn overly complex board/card games. Playing something simple enough where I can focus more on socializing is ideal. Let's BS about life while playing cards against humanity?
Hi, I am looking to make new friends who are also on the autism spectrum. I am a 31-year old female from Minnesota. I live alone with my cats, but I do have a small circle of close friends/neighbors that gets me by. Only one of them is on the spectrum though and she is not at all like me. I would like to trade stories, experiences, just someone to share with and talk to. I am adopted and was raised separately from my twin sister. I found out about her when I was 21, and I was diagnosed with ASD when I was 24. I've worked really hard on my social skills these last few years, and honestly I am just plumb tuckered out. I need to know I'm not alone! I know there are alot of lonely people on here, so anyone is welcome to PM me if they feel like chatting. Hope to hear from you!

Always open to making new friends so hi, I'm 19 and I live in the country and love the outdoors and fishing. I also love video games too, art, and music. Just an FYI I'm an old soul and tend to get along with people a bit older than me. Feel free to message me!

Figured I'd give this a shot. I'm a 36 year old guy in Northern Minnesota. I enjoy cooking, watching movies/some tv shows (generally fantasy/superhero) and video games. I'm extremely well read and enjoy a wide variety of literary subjects. Just looking for people to hang out with online on occasion, I'd say in person but no one lives near me

Hi! I'm a 23 year old woman who is quite shy even though I like to think I'm not. When I was in high school my "friends" gave me the nickname of The b***h because I was unknowingly rude to people. I moved to Phoenix, AZ 3 years ago and have made exactly 0 friends and 1 very casual acquaintance.
(It's very hot here in Phoenix. The hubris of humanity to settle in such a hot climate is astounding.)
I'm a solitary person by nature but that is a very slippery slope into isolation so I want to make more friends and be a generally happier person!
I don't care if our interests aren't exactly the same, as long as we get along and have similar outlooks on life. I'm optimistic about the world yet I can be impossibly bitter and angry about unnecessary injustice and bigotry.
(for example, remember that crocker guy from the fairly odd parents and how he would yell, "fairy god parents!" and twitch onscreen. Well I do that, except I yell, "CAPITALISM!" in scathing disdain. Not as relevant as I thought, I just go on inexplicable tangents sometimes, which probably explains my tendency towards run on sentences. For that I apologize ^^;)
This is a terrible friendship profile haha! Either way, if I sound interesting to you don't hesitate to message me! We can talk about books and movies or whatever!
I will not torture anyone with lengthy messages about myself.
A few things about me here:
- 32 years of age
- originally from Germany and residing in the US since late 2016
- musician, writer, visual artist (but most of my work is not good enough to being released to the outside world)
- about start attending community college for degrees in mathematics, psychology, IT, and robotics. After two years there i am going to transfer to Wayne State or University Of Michigan, if i am good enough, of course)
- interests are too many to list on here, believe me
Maybe there is a way to start exchanging messages and maybe even become friends. I could also always need help about everyday life for someone on the spectrum here in the USA.
Thank you for reading!

Hi, really glad to be here! I am looking for someone with whom I can discuss philosophy, the arts and spirituality. I have finished studying and live in London where I feel quite isolated. While I have found people who I can debate or exchange ideas with, I haven’t found a kindred spirit who actually inspires me to create and conceptualise.
I really want someone who I can have a mutually inspiring partnership in every domain. What
My areas of particular interest are:
Process Philosophy
Phenomenology
Evolutionary Idealism
Christian Mysticism
Avant Garde Art (Whether visual audio or narrative)
I look forward to hearing from you!!
During my free time I’m a philosopher, a sociologist, a manipulative rogue, a relationship-advice-giver and innocent shit-disturber.
i raise a glass as a fellow innocent s**t raiser. may we continue our good work ~

Hey, I can finally post here!
I'm 19 and from California. I'm majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and considering adding CADD as well. If anyone here knows SolidWorks, you and I already have that in common.
In terms of interests, I love History, especially War History. Once during my Political Science class, the professor asked us what the Tet Offensive was, and I embarrassingly blurted out the answer before a Marine Corps Veteran in my class could answer it. I also love firearms, as well as hiking, and camping.
I love "Older" music, such as Rockabilly and early country. Hank Williams Sr. is my most favorite singer (and my new profile pic), and the other country singers I like are Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash of course, Kitty Wells, and Johnny Horton. For Rockabilly, I like Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Collins Kids, Janis Martin, Chuck Berry, Wanda Jackson, etc.
My all-time favorite movie is George Lucas' American Graffiti and The Sandlot comes to a close second.
