Why do people avoid hugging me?

I know it might be impossible to answer without knowing me, but I can't ever figure out why people skip over me when they hug everyone else in the room hello and goodbye. It doesn't ever seem malicious, it's more like I give off some cue that seems to mean I don't want it, but I don't feel that way. I hesitate because I can't read when it's the right time? My posture is rigid and people misinterpret?

Does anyone else have this problem?

I don't know. Some individuals (can be an Aspie trait) are very sensitive to touch. Others may sense this and avoid hugging, in order to not provoke a meltdown.

I tend to give bear hugs and my grandkids tend to keep their distance from me when it comes time to leave.

My daughter is like this. It's cute because she's five, but I'm starting to see her friends push her away when she's too much. I wonder if I was the same and I over adjusted at some point that I don't remember.

You can start the hug

It could be because others think you don't want to be hugged. If you do want to be included, I suggest making an effort to be more open with your body language, maybe even subtly signal that you want to be hugged when they get to you.

Having said that what is so great about hugging?

I wish I knew why they didn't hug you so I could see if I can apply that to myself cuz I have the opposite problem. I never liked hugging anyone except for my girlfriend(who I love it from) but others(mostly family cuz I'm not close to anyone else really) want to hug me & pressure me into hugging them & they can be real pushy about it.

I would rather not get a hug that I wanted, tgan get a hug that I didn't want
