I got two new baby rats, both males named Perry and Jax. There's also the family dog named Luke. His breed is Catahoula Leopard.

(Click on the photos below to see more.)

I lived with friends and we shared Nimbus. When I got my own house, I had to leave her behind. (But my new house is next door, so not too far behind!)

Image

A couple years passed, and while cleaning up the yard, my roommate of old reached for a clod of dirt and discovered it was warm and fuzzy. The mother cat had abandoned the 5-week old runt of the litter. Nimbus would not put up with competition, so I took the youngling home with me, not really planning to get attached. Now we're inseparable.

Image

I didn't know what to call her at first, but one day she rumbled into the bathroom and I thought she sounded like a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, so I thought "Harley". But then I looked at the mask-like pattern of her face and thought of the Joker's side-kick, Harley Quinn. The name was perfect! (I later learned that director Kevin Smith named his little girl the same thing.)

Mouse - a black shorthair cat
Little Tig - a grey shorthair cat who always looks angry. She's the oldest - 15

Tom - a grey shorthair tomcat. He's blind.

LurkerExtraordinaire,

What gorgeous cats you have! I just love Lynx point Siamese kitties! My first Siamese, Samantha, was a Lynx point and she lived to be 20. My current Siamese, Prince, is also a Lynx point. He will be nine in May.

Horses
Trooper (pic 1)—My Paint stock gelding. He was named Fred and a previous owner at one time thought he was so dangerous she considered putting him down. However, my husband re-trained him and he is now so good about doing whatever you ask that I changed his name to Trooper.
Moonie—My husband’s tougher-than-nails, super-agile little cowhorse.
Nicker—Wide-eyed little gelding someone brought for a month and a half training 2 years ago that we still have.
Skye (pic 2)—My Shire/Thoroughbred cross mare with expansive rolling gaits. Hoping to sell to good home for eventing or trail riding.
Image Image

Goats
Nanny & Gretel (pic 3)—Someone dumped them in the forest near us and we helped some neighbors lasso them and now they’re our pets. Gretel is part pygmy goat and always looks like she’s about to have kids.
Tanner—Actually a neighbor’s but he appears to have set up permanent residence at our place. Payback for the times our goats have invaded the neighbor’s.
Image

Bantam Chickens
Pookie (pic 4)—Named after Garfield’s teddy bear. She is a Frizzle so all her feathers curl backwards.
Half-Pint—Diminutive head rooster of our bantam coop.
Rosie—Beautiful Wyandotte whose mate I had to put down.
Cap & Pearl—Cochin chicks with tons of fluffy feathers on their legs. Cap is hilariously precocious—always hopping on top of whatever is handy.
Sabrina & Harrison (pic 5)—Breeding pair of Barred Plymouth Rocks. He is a considerate hubby and dad, and she is tolerant of me handling the 3 chicks they’re currently raising.
Pip & Squeak—Extremely friendly and cheerful chicks from Sabrina & Harrison but hand-raised.
Image Image

Large Fowl Chickens
Lace—Head rooster guaranteed a for-life home by his courteous but protective nature.
Hawk & Bright—Easter Egger hens who lay good eggs.
Diamond & Hidey (pic 6)—Ameraucanas from our prior year’s breeders.
Lindy, Scout, Sunny, Wonder, (also pic 6) & Jack—Our first Ameraucanas from eggs from the breeder of last year’s national champion show lines.
Angel (pic 7)—A sweet little Ameraucana born with curled toes who I’ve done innumerable treatments on.
Michael (also pic 7)—Angel’s brother who is quite protective of her.
Image Image

(Can you tell that chickens are my current AS obsession? :) It used to be predominantly horses. My husband is a horse trainer so that was good, but we’d argue about methods. Fortunately, he likes chickens, too, but he thinks I’ve gone a bit too far... and he’s right :D )

Cats
Chelsea (pic 8 )—Indoor, longhaired tortoiseshell. She was abused as a kitten and been tense her whole life since (She’s 13). However, a dangling spring toy bear recently has really loosened her anxious temperament. I think it appeals to her because its spring action is “responsive” any time she wants to play and she can grab it even though she is declawed by hooking a foot through its loops.
Tri—Life-of-the-party, outdoor, gray tiger cat. In the middle of EVERYTHING. Has had both front feet broken at different times. Once was from standing behind a horse playing with its tail.
Satin (“Tinny”) (pic 9)—So-named because of her sooooooft coat. She likes to flop in front of you to have her belly rubbed and will grab at you but not actually claw or bite.
Allie (“Allie Cat”)—A horrible pest the first 2 years. I know her past owners were going, “Yes!! ! Free at last!” as I drove off when we took her. She’s finally adapted to her life here & we’ve adapted to her.
Stasha (“Messy Face”) (pic 10)—We rescued her when she was so hungry that when you gave her wet cat food she’d do a face plant in it but so weak she wouldn’t bother to clean herself off. The infant undershirt was to keep her from scratching a sore she had. She now is my stepdaughter’s.
Image Image Image

Dog
Cass (pic 11)—Border collie. Aggravating when you try to drive cows and her instinct is to retrieve them for you, but she is a great and lovin’ dog and very pretty.
We are looking for an additional working cattle dog. Image

Yes, I do spend half my time taking care of animals. 8O

heh, RAGTIME man, my mom has an african grey, the damn thing is always so affectinate towards me, even lets me put my hand on his back (reluctantly) he trusts me, and they cant beleive it cause i dont even live at home. Those birds r sooo damn smart mine took a bell, broke the pedgulum inside of it, removed it, turned it upseide down, filled it with some food, then using it as a dish began eating outa it on the opposite side of the cage, very intelligent.

Their r 2 species, timnah and congo, i have the other 1, i think hes a congo, yours must be a timnah unless i got them backwards, the color of the tale and somethin else denotes what it is.
