That is exactly it you don't put yourself on the spot. You either feel you want to go or you don't, then you just do it without second guessing it. That is what you can decide now, happy? :D I learnt that technique from CBT. It is about as far away from ultimatum as you can get, it just takes a while to figure it out. If anything just pretty much forget about it, maybe you’d turn up at 3pm because you half forgot and were doing something else. That would be a result.

So, have you sent a PM to everyone on WP who is England-based?

So far I have done some south of England. Those that put obvious counties or town in their location.

The person who is organisning this meet up should ask everyone who wishes to come to this meet up to send a photo of themselves either thru their mobile phone or the internet. It is advisable if the person organising it has a special mobile phone number just for the meet up and not their usual phone.

I wouldn't ask them to send a photo. That is up to them.

Then are you prepared to send to members a photo of yourself so that they know who they are looking for?

I put a photo in the getting to know each other section. This is it:
Image
Feel free to deface it :D But really I have trouble recognising people from photos, or for a while. I think it is better if I carry an object such as an orange. If you have found the location and a person holding an orange then it is me. I prefer tangerines but an orange is easier to see from a distance.

Anyone suspect this is a Quatremass sockpocket? I always suspected as much, perfect cover :P

On this evening's London news Bulletin there was a section showing preparations for the Carnival. They said they are expecting 2 million people to come to London during the time. Why can't you make the meet up on the Saturday which is non carnival day.

All trains are 'off peak' on Sunday, aren't they? It'd make transport a lot cheaper for people who have further to come. Also, people are less likely to have to be at work on a Sunday than a Saturday.
On another note - It's probably wiser to stick to the original date, seeing as opening it up to debate means people can't buy advance tickets, plus it might lose all organistation. I think that 0_equals_true made a sensible call picking a day in the first post.
Ever seen the episode of South Park where Chef is trying to organise a rally to have the town flag changed? It'd probably end up like that :P

Yep and we’ll also be in south bank (I nearly put south park) and the crowd will be in Notting Hill. It the kids one, the paraded starts around 9am so it will probably be over by the afternoon.

They always over exaggerate, like they say on a protest there is millions of people, when there is thousands.

Quote:
There are lots of reasons for why numbers attending Carnival have decreased - the strength of the pound; 9/11; the trouble in Iraq; the list is endless. That said, what we should not lose sight of is the fact that the Notting Hill Carnival attracted 850,000 people last year and remains a significant event in Europe’s programme of events. LNHC works with all our partners to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants and spectators. This is key objective is successfully achieved year on year.

2006 Police crowd estimate Notting Hill Carnival

Sunday: 330,000
Monday: 500,000

The two million I think is overall people coming from outside London, which is pretty average in summer.
