1) Hate, hate, HATE the phone. It's ok for touching base with my husband or good friends (not so much for conversation), and I have learned, through lots of hard work, to be able to handle routine things like calling a credit card company, etc, largely through putting together an (often written) outline of what conversation needs to happen, and how they're likely to respond to things.
2) I frequently will be practically mute when out and about. This used to puzzle my husband; I think he still doesn't understand it, but he's used to it.
